Origin Myth of The little AU

A couple of years ago, Viggo and Karl met again, nearly by accident, and realized three things. Not mutually, but between them. Viggo realized that Karl wasn't happy in his conjugal life in New Zealand, that what had happened between them, briefly, in Edoras, was real, so he went to see Karl...Karl realized he wasn't happy, that what had happened between them in Tokyo was real, so he let Viggo come visit...And each of them realized, or almost realized, that something else was missing. Someone else: Orlando.
Viggo thought Orli'd known about the occasional times he'd been with Karl. Karl'd certainly known about Orli- who, among the Fellowship, hadn't? But he'd been content to keep the peace, knowing that, really, his life would be in New Zealand, with Natalie. Vig was just a good friend. A really, really good friend, like Craig had been, during Shortland Street days. Besides, the man was head-over-heels in love with the Elf, everyone knew that.
Everyone, but Orli. Everyone, but Viggo. Who proceeded, on the beach in Cannes some years after filming, after openings, to walk down the shore hand-in-hand and make a truce with love: Let him be all right, and I'll give him up. It's for the good of his career. It's for the best... and had parted, sad, agreeing to meet as friends from time to time. Vig went to work, so did Orli. Vig went to Lola, but not for long; Orli went to Kate, and longed, always, for Viggo.
And time passed. And Viggo went to visit Karl, and Nat caught them, and threw them both out. Thus the road to The Little AU was begun, ending in a ramshackle fixer-upper at the end of a road outside Pismo Beach being bought by Viggo and completely overhauled by Karl... in Vig seeing Orli with Sidi on TV while he was out buying furniture, and coming home and wanting dogs... in Karl understanding that it wasn't dogs that Viggo wanted, it was Orli. In Orli coming to visit, and buying a house up the road, and many, many reverberations of the triangle later, moving into Bluff house instead, and letting his house be Henry's home away from home when he came to visit his dad. In Orlando and Karl coming to love each other, until the triangle became the three-legged foundation of their life, the most solid of simple foundations. Air, Earth, and Water, Viggo sometimes thinks of them as, Orlando, Karl, and himself, and Love the Fire that brings life to them all.
The Little AU is the story of three men who work out, over time, how to be friends as well as lovers, how to talk about the jealousies and hurts, the worries and fears, the deep-seated appreciations of each other, the need, the love, the life they make, are making, by living it together.
This does not come out of my mind. The original story developed, as many do, from role-play which quickly clearly became truth-telling of a kind. If this could have happened in real life for these men this is how it would be...and the love, the respect, and the friendship among them is, I am absolutely sure, as real in 'Real Life' as it is in The Little AU. What happens now is, I sit down to do something else, and one of them come, sits beside me, and says, "This is how it was, this day or that day," and before you know it, there's another bit of of it, posted.

Thus MPAA ratings are really superflous: this is, for the most part, a gentle story but it is about three men who love each other, have sex with each other, occasionally hurt for each other... under 18, probably better you wait to read, eh?]
