The little AU: Winter Hopes: Ready

In the morning they rise comfortable with each other, Viggo's futbol flag still draped over the armchair where he'd laid it after a last triumphant spin reliving the moment of unveiling it- he doesn't know, yet, that it made the broadcast, the closing credits rolling over ASLA, credit given where credit is due in so many, many ways.
There is tea, and mate, and phone calls to be taken and returned. From outside the sun shines in, beckoning to them to put aside all plans for the day and come out and play- make a day of it in the New Forest, or at the V&A, or someplace small and ordinary where, if they are lucky, they'll get through the day unscathed by flashbulb burns and shouted orders from those whose commands they would never obey.
After companionable silence, after leisurely, thorough lovemaking, as they pack their bags- Orlando running his hands over the fine fabrics of Viggo's suit, saying "This is so beautiful- it's as though Ngila made it for you-" after all the ordinary miracles of time together away from home, they part, each remembering Ian's comment on the red carpet: "Seize the day may be a well-worn phrase, hmm? But there's no better rule for living that I know of."
In the world, there will be paparazzi and fools; there will be decisions about next projects; there will be opportunities missed, people mourned, time wasted, fears, anxieties, worries- but in their world, there will be moments like this, seized, taken in fully, and appreciated for what they are- the things that make us ready to face any day, to face this day, in our truest and best selves.
