The little AU: Rising Spring: Rest
slashfairy ~~
The air is crisp and fresh even in downtown Reykjavik and he breathes it in, grateful for the sense of being separate from everywhere else, if only for a few days, a week. The gallery is at once smaller and larger than he remembered, bright and quiet. He works at setting up with a quiet joy that's evident in the way he moves, in his eyes, his smile.
At night the thousand voices leave him to rest. He is satisfied with this year, so different to what he'd expected it to be, and though he's already got plans for the next one they involve remembering to take his quiet time seriously, to have fun wherever it presents itself, and to love being alive with every breath.
The blue and red flag drapes his hotel bed. A drawing from Hunter hangs on the bathroom mirror. There are text messages and emails from his lovers, and music from Henry, and even a note from Exene telling him how glad she is for him for this show.
Nothing has been left out, even though there are a hundred and one things he would do differently. Nothing is too much, or not enough, or out of place, and although he can think of so many ways he would change the world if he could, he's just glad to be in this one, right now.
In the late evening light he'll drive to the edge of town and find some forest, just to remind himself what Skovbo means, is about. Then he'll come back and get some sleep, and tomorrow the show will open, and it'll be one less thing to worry about, and one more thing to quietly celebrate.
