It snows in England, and Karl and Viggo take a bit of time, steal it, go to the country and throw snowballs at each other. They don't have long- a couple hours, robbed from here and there until they make up enough time for the drive, a half-hour of fun, and the drive back. Karl drives- he's more comfortable driving on the left.
They come back damp-cuffed and rosy-cheeked, palms and backs still stinging from the hit and missed snowballs. Viggo's hotel is nothing like the one Orli'd gotten for them all, but it doesn't need to be- the shower's big enough, and the bed. Karl's kept his room as well- Vig needs time to let Nikolai go, come back, and that's best done alone.
Besides, Karl's still on California time. He does a couple interviews about Pathfinder, takes some phone calls about Out of the Blue, contrasts London with the New Mexico desert, and sends virtual Valentine's to Orlando.
Orli looks out over Antarctica and shivers. He's dressed right, the shuttle's insulated, there're people around who know what they're doing, what's going on- but he's cold for a moment nonetheless. Later, when he hits his email, all the chill melts in the warmth of virtual roses and chocolates from Karl with one of Vig's silly 'ambient' music pieces stuck in for the soundtrack. He laughs, closes his email, and goes to find the rest of the people he's traveling with, to continue his adventure in the land of ice and snow.
