Karl slams the magazine down on the counter, unsure whether to be annoyed or laugh until he's helpless. The second reaction wins out as he takes the magazine to the front of the shop, pays for it and the two books he'd wanted (one about another epic game, Myst, and one about wood-working and home building).
Those are my damn favorites, had those for YEARS he says, brought them over when I left home to come... home...
that thought stops him for a moment and he looks at the magazine photo again, then gets a naughty grin and stops at the copy shop to scan it into his online account.
Then he goes on home, takes the dogs for a walk, has dinner and a tinnie, and packs for his next little jaunt- a few days in LA and around, doing interviews about the projects he's got going.
At the airport waiting for the commuter he pops open his laptop and finds some site that does virtual cards. He finds a suitably "Hearts and Flowers" one, one he can insert an "Image of his choosing!" into. Oh, yeah, he's chosen an image, all right. He clicks 'add', clicks 'finish', puts the addresses in, and clicks 'send'. Grinning wickedly he closes the laptop and puts it in his carry-on.
My work here is done, he thinks to himself, content that the 'net is sending, right now, his Valentine's wishes to his lovers wherever they are.
In London and in Buenos Aires, Viggo and Orlando open their email to find a singing card from Karl.
Roses are red, Violets are Blue, Sugar is sweet and So are you.
I see London, I see France. Orli stole my underpants.
