Time moves oddly in the winter.

So much depends on the weather. A grey day can feel like fall, like October maybe, or November, and all of Winter still to come. A bright white day is clearly Winter, but too many in a row become frozen and Winter never ends. Warm days add a little yellow to the mix, as though the daffodils were up already, as though the days were already so much longer that mid-day seems to last forever.

Time moves differently for each of them, parted for these days by life and need and want and obligation. But it doesn't move them apart anymore. Further down the calendar are the days they'll spend together, while the earth turns, moves around the sun, and time does as it will.
