There is very little conversation at the dinner table, but afterwards, Orlando makes a sort of altar on the counter between the kitchen and the dining room: a red cloth, three candles, and a Buddhist mala in colours that remind him of Heath.

Later, after Hunter's in bed, they'll sit on the big sofa, talking quietly about what it means, to lose someone this way. Orlando will be quiet, very quiet, remembering how dark everything was last year, and how grateful he is for two friends who would not let him leave, and knowing that it only takes a moment- not even under one's control, often- for the light to fade, and the darkness to be complete.

In the morning there will be gossip, and real information. Someone will call with information about a remembrance or memorial, and he'll have to decide if he's going, or not. In the end, it'll be the days shooting Ned Kelly in Australia, dressed up in tin-can armour and fighting long, hopeless odds, that he'll remember- that, and Heath's ready smile once the director'd called "Check the gate."
