“What are we?”

“Generally speaking, people.”

“Reid.”

“What?”

“You know what I'm asking.”

“What do you want me to say?”

“I want you to answer my question.”

They were sitting at opposite ends of the couch, both of them turned to face the other. Reid was wearing his trademark smirk, but Luke wasn't giving into it. Reid sighed.

“Why do we have to...label whatever it is we are?”

“Because!” Luke exclaimed. “When I introduce you to someone I'm going to say 'I'm Luke and this is...'”

“Dr. Reid Oliver.”

“Reid, don't be an ass.”

“I'm not trying to be.” He gave a strangled chuckle. “I don't have to try.”

“Reid.” Luke practically whined. “Please, this is important.”

“Why?” He asked. “Why is this so important?”

“I need to know that you're with me because you care about me and not just because you want to save me from myself.”

Startled, Reid stared at Luke.

“You really think -”

“I don't know what I think.” Luke cut him off. “One minute your kissing me and fucking me every chance you get and the next minute your a pompous ass and telling me it was over...and then I start to think that maybe you care, but you spring this whole 'rehab' thing on me and force me to live with you.” He rambled out, before pausing for breath. “The last few weeks have been amazing, and I started to think...but I need to know.”

Reid felt a little shell shocked.

He couldn't deny it of course. That is what had happened, and he understood why Luke was having trouble reconciling Reid's role in his life.

“Why are you asking me this now?”

“Because I'm trying to find out if I'm going to lose you.” Luke bit his lip, and Reid felt his stomach churn, making it hard to swallow.

“What?” Reid said, practically whispering.

“You heard me.” Luke replied, his voice just as quiet.

“Where is this coming from?”

“It's coming from today, and realizing that I don't want to be like Brian.”

“You are nothing like Brian.”

“Aren't I?” He snorted angrily. “When I can't handle things, I drink and take the coward's way out, and I do it even though I know it will kill me one day. Isn't that a suicidal tendency?”

“Luke.” Reid reached out his hand and put it on top of Luke's, wanting to comfort him but not sure how. He didn't know how to...make this better.

“Reid, please, just answer the question.”

“Tell me why you think you're going to lose me.” Luke sighed this time, before pulling his hand away from Reid's and turning so that he was no longer facing him. Reid felt like he couldn't breathe and he tried not to panic.

How did this happen?

Things were going well.

Maybe too well.

“I need more help than you can give me.”

“Okay, I'm a genius, but I don't understand.” The corners of Luke's mouth twitched.

“I mean that I need professional help. You're a brain surgeon, Reid, but you're the wrong kind of doctor to be treating my disease.” Luke told him. “There's no physical way to fix what's wrong with me, and you have no idea how much it means to me that you tried.”

“What are you saying?”

“That if I all I am to you is a patient, someone you're trying to fix, then I'm leaving. I know how much you care about your patients, and if that's all I am to you...”

Reid's mouth went dry.

Just say it.

SAY IT.

Tell him you love him.

He couldn't get the words out. His mouth wouldn't move. Luke was sitting there, waiting, expectant.

Luke needed an answer and his mouth wouldn't fucking move.

After a moment, Luke just sort of nodded and stood up. Reid stared after him, watching as Luke headed into the bedroom. He was on his feet a second later, following him. Reid leaned against the door frame, watching as Luke grabbed things out of the dresser space that Reid had cleared for him and started shoving them inside a bag.

The younger man sniffled, and Reid finally found his voice.

“What are you doing?”

“Packing, what's it look like.” Luke answered, his voice cracking. Reid moved across the room in three strides, taking the clothes from Luke's hand and dropping them on the floor. “Rei-”

Reid cut him off, crashing his lips into Luke's and swallowing the rest of what he was going to say. Desperation rolled off him in waves as he pressed himself against Luke. Luke made a 'mmmph' noise against his lips, and Reid gentled his kiss, cupping Luke's face in his hands.

“Don't make this so complicated.” Reid murmured against Luke's mouth, pulling back to look the younger man in the eye. His thumb wiped a tear from Luke's cheek. “We're together.”

“Yeah?” Luke breathed, hope lighting his eyes, and his smile blinding.

“Yeah.”

“Show me.” Reid smirked at Luke's request, because fuck...he could do that.

*

Luke was riding him, his back pressed to Reid's chest. Reid was leaning back against the headboard on the bed, his eyes closed, his hands gripping Luke's hips tightly, trying to get Luke to move faster.

He wouldn't.

Luke was taking his time, moving incredibly slowly, torturing Reid every time he rose up and then slowly slid down, taking Reid's cock a bit at a time.

Reid thought he might die.

Luke rocked his hips back against him and Reid gasped. Luke wound his arm around Reid's neck and turned his head for a kiss. Reid tried to get Luke to move again, but he locked his frame, and refused, seeming content to just have Reid buried inside him. Luke sighed against his mouth.

“Lu-ke.” Reid nearly whined, startling himself with his reaction. He felt Luke's smile, and knew that's the reaction the younger man had been going for.

“What?” Luke asked, rocking his hips again.

“Stop being a tease and just fuck me already.” Reid growled in his ear, and Luke trembled at the rasp in his voice.

“I'll fuck you whatever way I damn well please.” Luke said breathlessly as one of Reid's hands slid up his chest and pinched his nipple. Luke tightened around Reid's cock, and Reid groaned. Luke rocked hard against Reid then, taking him deeper if that was possible. Reid's cock brushed his prostate and he cried out.

That seemed to send him in a frenzy and he began moving faster, rocking harder, and it was all Reid could to do to hold onto Luke. Every thrust angled into that tiny nub, and Luke made little noises that drove Reid wild. He moved his hand toward Luke's cock, but Luke knocked his hand away and Reid realized he want to come without help.

Reid closed his eyes, willing himself hang on. He was getting close, he could feel it.

“Just let go, Luke.” Reid urged in Luke's ear. The younger man shuddered, his finger's twisting in Reid's hair, his other hand holding Reid's leg tightly as he moved. “I've got you.”

Luke came with a gasp and a whimper, arching his back. Reid groaned, pulling on Luke's hips and jerking him down again, Luke shaking as he hit his prostate again.

Luke moaned his name, and that was all it took for Reid. He came, his face pressed into the crook of Luke's neck.

*

Luke was sprawled out on top of Reid, his head lying on Reid's chest. Reid was breathing deeply, and Luke could tell he was almost asleep.

“Reid, I'm going to get help.” Luke said quietly.

“Help?” Reid mumbled, his voice thick. His hand stroked through Luke's hair.

“I'm going to start going to Alcoholics Anonymous.” He continued, tracing the tip of his index finger across Reid's skin.

“Really?”

“Really. It's time to make a new life for myself...with you.”
