Author's Note: This story starts the night that Noah finds Luke in Olde Towne and takes him home. It picks up right after Noah leaves. In my head, that makes Luke 19 and Reid 30,(using the DVD of Reid around 12 yrs old as being taped in 1990). This might end up being the dirtiest thing I've ever written. *hides* Huge thank you's to my official beta for this fic, stl29tide, and alissablue for all her EPIC research. :)

Basically, I'm hijacking the Paul/Josie/Dusty plot for my purposes. Don't know who Josie is? If you visit Dusty's Wikipedia page here, you can read up on it. I'm changing mostly just the dates for the plot, so it runs alongside Luke's plot line. I will probably AU it a lot. Also, in my fic, Dusty/Josie have known each other for a few weeks, and it was Paul's idea to call in Reid (He told Dusty that it was prove Josie was faking, but in reality he wants Reid to keep his scheme going).

Yeah, I borrowed a lot from the show for this chapter. Here it is.... ;D

“Luke.” Brian said, looking surprised to see him.

“What are you doing here? Luke asked.

“Lucinda’s post-op is today. I was going to go for a walk and I forgot my -” Brian gave him a concerned look. “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine.” Luke half shrugged, shaking his head.

“You look sick.”

“Brian.” Luke complained. “Just lay off.” He threw his hands up in frustration and started to walk away. Dizziness swept over him, and he would have fallen if Casey and Allison hadn’t grabbed him by the arms.

“What the hell is going on here?” Brian wanted to know.

Allison explained what was going on amid Luke’s protests. The last thing he wanted was for Brian to know that he was sick. Brian did not need another excuse to try to touch him.

“Are we doing this or not?” Reid appeared behind the group. “I’ve got rounds, and you people are wasting my time.”

“Yeah, he’ll be right in.”

“Like hell I will.” Luke replied. Brian looked to Casey and Allison.

“I’ll take over from here, okay?”

“Brian, this is none of your business.” Luke protested. He could feel Reid’s eyes staring into his back.

“It will be unless you want your mother to find out that you’re here.” Brian said, reaching out a hand towards him. Luke shifted backward a hair, putting himself out of reach. Casey and Allison didn’t seem to notice.

“Are you blackmailing me?” Luke couldn’t believe this. This couldn’t be happening.

“He’s trying to help you.” Allison put a hand on Luke’s shoulder. Luke exhaled loudly and glanced at Allison.

“You don’t know the half of it.” Luke just stared at the floor in disbelief as Casey and Allison debated leaving him with Brian and Brian tried to talk them into it, until he threatened Casey.

“Look, Brian, don’t threaten my friends.” Luke snapped.

“Your friends wouldn’t let you get out of an examination before it’s over.” Brian replied.

“He’s right.” In unison, the four of them turned around to see Reid standing in the door way of the exam room. “You should be checked out.”

“The doctor’s waiting.” Briand said.

“All right, fine.” Luke shrugged again. It would be better to get this over with. Get it over with and then he’d…he’d know how bad it was.

He’d know if he was sick again.

He’d know if he’d nearly drank himself to death a second time.

Luke told his friends to go, before turning to Brian.

“Don’t touch me.” He said softly. Brian held his hands up in surrender, and followed Luke into the exam room.

*

“All right.” Reid began as they walked in. Brian shut the door, and Reid gave him a glance before continuing. “Sit down, take off your shirt, and let’s get this over with.”

Luke did as he was told, a little weirded out to be shirtless with Reid in front of Brian, but having no choice. He sat down, slipping off his vest and then pulled his shirt off over his head.

Reid gave him a long, appraising look that made Luke’s face fill with color. He stepped forward, putting the his stethoscope in his ears, and holding out the end on Luke’s chest…and then Reid froze.

“What the hell is that?” Reid asked.

“Doctor?” Brian jumped in. Luke followed Reid’s line of sight to the side of his abdomen, where his transplant scar, though faded as it was nearly four years old, was still visible. He realized that Reid had never seen him without a shirt, had never seen the scar. Reid didn’t know about his kidney.

“Are you seriously drinking post transplant?” Reid was staring down at him, anger in his eyes. “Don’t you know that could kill you?”

“Yes.” Luke said softly, dropping his gaze to the floor.

Reid didn’t seem to know what to say to that, and continued the exam after a moment. He didn’t speak to Luke, except to give instructions.

Reid slipped the blood pressure cuff up Luke’s arm, leaning in close. Luke couldn’t help but smell him, the scent reminding him of all things he and Reid had done together.

Done while Luke was drunk.

He sighed, earning a glance from Reid.

“You’re blood pressure is a little low.” Reid finally spoke. “It’s hard to say if it’s the alcohol consumption,” He gave Luke a hard look, “Or if it’s a kidney infection without a blood test.”

“I’ll make sure he gets one.” Brian said.

“Aw, gee, thanks Grandpa.” Luke snarked, and he saw Reid’s lips twitch. That’s when he knew that while Reid was angry about the drinking and the kidney, he didn’t hate Luke for it or seem disappointed in him.

That was a refreshing change.

“We really appreciate all you’ve done, Dr. Oliver.” Brian held his hand out to shake Reid’s. Reid just stared at him for a second, ignoring his hand. He turned around to Luke.

“Stop drinking.” Luke met his gaze and was startled by the depth of emotion he saw there.

Could Reid - Was Reid worried about him? Did he care about him?

Luke didn’t know what to do with that information.

Reid stepped out into the hallway, the door cracked. Luke got up from the bed.

“You happy?” Luke asked Brian, sounding as snotty as possible.

“Do you have a death wish or something?” Brian answered his question with a question.

“What I need you to do right now is make sure the coast is clear so I can get out of here.” Luke ignored his words.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“Why do you even care?” Luke was fed up. Enough was enough. He had to get out of there. “You’ve done you’re good deed for the day. You can check me off your to-do list, Brian.” Luke moved towards the door and Brian stepped in front of him, holding up his hand.

“Come on, man.” Now Luke was annoyed.

“Luke, you’re drunk.” Brian said. “What is the matter with you?

“At the moment, you.” Luke pointed at him.

“I’m not letting you walk out of here like this.” Brian refused to step out of the way.

“Are you trying to impress my grandmother?” Luke dropped his voice down low, leaning closer to him. “Maybe you’re just looking for an excuse to put your hands on me. Is that it?”

“You are way out of line, Luke.” Luke knew his face showed his shock.

“I’m out of line?” He laughed. “I’m not the one who can’t keep his hands off his grandson.” His raised his hands up and rubbed them together as his tone turned mocking. “Oh, I’m sorry. Are we still pretending that you haven’t been trying to feel me up since the night you married my grandmother? Or more?”

“I keep telling you, you’re imagining things.” Brian insisted.

“Yeah, well, I may have been drunk all those times, but I wasn’t unconscious.” Luke told him. Brian just looked at him for a second.

“Look, here.” Brian handed him money and a key card. “Take this, get a cab, go to the Lakeview, sleep it off.”

“No way.” Luke shoved it back at him. “I’m not going to stay at your hotel room.”

“Where else are you going to go?”

“My place.” Brian and Luke turned to see Reid back in the doorway.

“Were you eavesdropping?” Luke asked.

“No, you people just talk incredibly loud.” Reid crossed his arms over his chest.

“How much of that did you hear?” Brian asked. Reid ignored his question.

“Go to my place; no one will know you’re there.” Reid said. “I know you know where the key is.”

“That’s a good idea.” Luke replied. No only would he get to spend some time with Reid, but no one would think to look for him there.

“I should be home in a couple of hours, I can check you out again, and if your blood pressure is still low, I’m going march you back here and admit you, got it?”

“I got it.” Luke fought to keep from smiling.

“Are you sure about this, Luke?” Brian interrupted.

“It’s better than going to your hotel room.” Luke answered. He brushed past Reid, whispering his thanks, and left the exam room.
