Author's Note: This story starts the night that Noah finds Luke in Olde Towne and takes him home. It picks up right after Noah leaves. In my head, that makes Luke 19 and Reid 30,(using the DVD of Reid around 12 yrs old as being taped in 1990). This might end up being the dirtiest thing I've ever written. *hides* Huge thank you's to my official beta for this fic, stl29tide, and alissablue for all her EPIC research. :)

Basically, I'm hijacking the Paul/Josie/Dusty plot for my purposes. Don't know who Josie is? If you visit Dusty's Wikipedia page here, you can read up on it. I'm changing mostly just the dates for the plot, so it runs alongside Luke's plot line. I will probably AU it a lot. Also, in my fic, Dusty/Josie have known each other for a few weeks, and it was Paul's idea to call in Reid (He told Dusty that it was prove Josie was faking, but in reality he wants Reid to keep his scheme going).

Chapter 40, you guys. 40

“So this is where the party is.” Reid said, brushing past Noah and stepping inside. “You have a killer right hook, by the way.”

Noah just clenched his jaw.

“What are you doing here?” Luke asked him. Reid gave him a small smile.

“I'm here to help you.”

“What?” Both Noah and Luke replied.

“Go upstairs and pack a bag.” Reid glanced at his watch. “You have ten minutes.”

“Excuse me?” Luke replied, bordering on shrill.

“You heard me.” Reid told him. “Go upstairs and pack.”

“And where am I going?” He rolled his head.

“With me.”

“Luke is not going anywhere with you.” Noah interrupted, shouting.

“Now you care?”

“Reid, don't.” Luke muttered.

“No, Luke, he's obviously got something to say.”

“Do you know how many times the last few weeks I wished I was blind ?”

“What's that supposed to mean?” Noah snapped.

“It means that if I was blind I wouldn't have to stand around and watch you treat Luke like dirt.”

“You don't know anything about Luke and me.”

“I know that he loves you.” Reid told him. “That he was in trouble. And where were you?”

“I don't need to justify myself to you.”

“No, you don't.” He agreed. “But maybe you should explain it to Luke.”

“Reid, please.” Luke closed his eyes. Maybe if he kept them closed he could pretend this wasn't real, that this wasn't happening.

“I thought I told you to pack.”

“I'm not going anywhere with you.” Luke replied. “Damn it, Reid. You can't keep doing this. You're so hot and cold, I never know where I stand with you.” He snapped. Reid sighed.

“You need help, Luke.” He said quietly. “You sure as hell aren't going to get it living here.”

“Oh, and I'll get it living with you?”

“Yes.”

“What are you going to do, Reid, tie me to the bed?”

“I can't listen to this.” Noah hissed.

“Noah, wait, please...”

“No, Luke.” He exclaimed.

The front door opened, and Lucinda walked in, followed by Brian.

“What on Earth is going on in here?” She demanded.

*

Reid raised his eyes to the ceiling. This was not going as well as he'd hoped. He wasn't even sure what he thought he'd accomplish. He'd left Brian and Jade in Olde Towne and started walking...and he just needed to see Luke.

“Well, somebody better start talking.” Lucinda said, throwing her wrap down onto the chair. She eyed the three men. “Luke?”

“It's nothing, Grandma.”

“It doesn't look like nothing.”

“We could hear you arguing from outside.” Brian added.

“Stay out of this, Brian.” Luke snapped.

“Don't talk to him like that.” Lucinda scolded. “I thought you two were past this...this animosity.”

“We are.” Brian stared at Luke, but he spoke to Lucinda.

“Don't mind Luke, Lucinda.” Noah added. “He's drunk.” With that, Noah turned on his heel and headed for the door. He slammed it shut behind him, leaving the room silent for a moment.

“Oh, dear.” Lucinda walked over to look and lifted his chin, forcing him to look her in the eye. “Oh, Luciano.”

Luciano?

“Grandmother, please.” Luke's voice cracked.

“You promised me.” She said.

“And me.” Reid kept his gaze on Luke as Lucinda turned her eyes on him.

“I know.”

“What do have to do with this, Dr. Oliver?”

“He doesn't have anything to do with this.”

“I can speak for myself, Luke.” Reid replied. “I'm trying to help your grandson.”

“By doing what exactly?” She arched an eyebrow at him.

“By taking him away from here.”

“Excuse me?”

“I think you heard me.”

“Darling, I think you'd better explain yourself right this instant.”

“Your grandson has been drinking himself into a stupor for weeks now, and no one noticed.” Reid told her. “He promised me he'd stop, but he started again tonight, and unless you want him to die, I'd suggest you let me help him.”

“I'm not going anywhere with you.” Luke exclaimed, crossing his arms over his chest.

“You hush up right now, Luke.” Lucinda looked at him.

“You can't just make decisions about my life.”

“Well, you've shown you can't make them either.” She turned to Reid. “What is your plan, Doctor?”

“Luke comes to stay with me.” Reid answered. “I'm taking the next few days off work, to help him get the alcohol out of his system for good. Once I go back to work, if Luke wants to go anywhere he has let me know where he's going and who with.”

“And what's to keep him from drinking while he's out?” Lucinda asked.

“Aside from the monthly drug test he'll be taking, if he so much as touches a bottle, I'll drop him in a rehab so fast his head will spin.”

“You can't just make me do anything.” Luke protested.

“He can and he will.” Lucinda looked at him.

“What?”

“You heard me, Luciano.”

“You're going to make me go with him?” Luke shook his head. “I won't.”

“You'll go with him, and go now, or first thing tomorrow I will check you into a rehab myself.”

“Grandmother!” Reid almost laughed. Luke looked and sounded like a petulant child, falling short of actually stomping his foot.

“And you better believe I'll be calling your parents and letting them know what's going on.”

“No, don't.” Luke said. “They're using this time to work on their marriage, the kids are having fun skiing...”

“You're not getting out of this.” Lucinda waved a finger at him. “I'm calling them in the morning. You heard the doctor...you'd better go pack.”

*

Reid sighed as he sank back against the headboard of the bed, a pillow behind his back. He stared down at Luke, who was sleeping next to him. He slowly reached out a hand, and brushed the hair back from his face.

He pressed a button on his cell phone grasped firmly in his other hand.

“Dr. Hughes?” He said, when someone answered the phone. “It's Dr. Oliver. I wanted to tell you that I'm taking the job.”
