Meat - part b
Oh some lovely team dynamics on show here. Gwen brings Rhys into the Hub, her posture is proud and a little defiant. Interestingly Owen has placed himself slightly hidden but at a level that is higher than Gwen and Rhys. Tosh, one of the shyest members of the team has placed herself in a direct circle of light, but with a very negative body language of her arms crossed over her chest. Ianto is, like Owen slightly hidden, but standing near his workstation and at Jack’s back.
Ianto is wary about what is about to happen. Arms by his side in his best non-threatening “I don’t want to draw attention to myself” manner.
Jack has allowed Gwen and Rhys to maintain the position of power by remaining elevated and has retreated back to stand near Ianto, but he is still Jack and still flirting. Ianto has relaxed slightly, hands in his pockets as there is a nice look of fond exasperation towards Jack.
Note how completely relaxed both Jack and Ianto are towards each other as they share a look. This is their default posture towards each other.
If anyone doubts that there is caring between these two, then they never watched this scene. This is one of the few times that Ianto has given that fond look directly to Jack so that Jack can see his expression.
But now back to the matter at hand and Ianto is again a little wary.
Ianto can sense some possible ramifications
He speaks, both men again mirroring each other in their stance.
And Ianto is again a little worried, but knows that Jack isn’t watching so he is safe to look at him.
Yet Ianto also feels secure enough to look a little disapproving towards Jack.
Here Jack is seeking Ianto’s approval, just like he did during Sleeper.
Ianto replies honestly.
Here Jack turns to look at Ianto directly asking if he does “show off’?
Ianto doesn’t look at Jack but at the bristling Rhys.
But he then looks at Jack as he tells him that he does. He never once tells Jack how he should or should not behave; just that he thinks he does show off just a little bit.
Jack then turns more serious and stops his flirting. He has taken on board Ianto’s suggestion and changed his behaviour.
But Rhys doesn’t help matters by still being the alpha male that he is.
Ianto knows that Jack has gotten angry and that is that.
Another boardroom scene, another time Ianto is sat to Jack’s right.
Again the rest of the team have willingly given the ‘power’ positions to Rhys and Gwen. Allowing them to dominate by standing.
Now we have the many expressions of Ianto Jones.

Voicing an opinion
Pondering dregs of coffee (or is he a secret tea leaf reader?)
Voicing another opinion (note that he often looks down when he offers a suggestion, he doesn’t maintain eye contact just in case it might be rejected.)
Considering
Thinks that it isn’t such a bad idea
Has doubts but is happy to go along with it.
Thought!
Has to stock up on plankton!
Ready to go and find some plankton…
Ok so none of those really relate to how he sees Jack but his expressions are just too darn cute… Forgive me?
