To The Last Man - part b
While the team convenes again in the boardroom with Tommy, Ianto is noticeable by his absence but a certain chair to the right of Jack has again been left vacant. Where in season one the team often changed up where they were sitting in relation to each other, so far this season they have stuck to pretty much the same positions each time.
So why wasn’t Ianto in the meeting? Because Jack entrusted him to watching over the box in his office. It does beg the question as to why the box couldn’t have been brought up to the meeting…
Later, while Jack is in his office, the box opens. Ianto has been hanging around monitoring Jack’s office. He knows the box is open and comes into the room.
He is happy and excited that they know what the instructions are.
But then he looks at Jack and sees that Jack isn’t happy or excited.
See, look, Jack serious face!
He has adjusted his emotions to fit in with how Jack is responding.
He is as perturbed as Jack to discover that Tosh needs to be involved.
Again, for the third time the team meets in the boardroom. This time again no Ianto, but a certain chair has been left vacant. Where is Ianto. Off down in the Archives getting what is needed. Jack has briefed Ianto before the others. Ianto then arrives with the box of Tommy’s clothes. Jack orders the others out, Tosh with him and Tommy to stay with Ianto.
Here we get the relaxed Ianto, hands in his pockets, but there is a cageyness in how he is looking at Tommy. Head down.
Tommy makes a joke about saving the world in some pyjamas….
Later the team discuss what Tommy could do on his last night. Ianto is as unsure as the rest of them.
I think the next scene needs a whole part of it’s own…
