They Keep Killing Suzie - part b
When Owen calls Jack up to the conference room, we finally see Ianto again, he is sitting on the table, just staring at the screen, seemingly in a catatonic state. Jack is actually standing at this point and it is so strange to see Ianto sitting on the edge of a table, like a child might do. While Owen explains, he just stays there staring and then when Owen tells them that Suzie is draining the life out of Gwen, then his lips part and he turns to look at Jack.
Gwen takes Suzie out of the Hub and the place goes into lockdown. The first person Jack calls about it is Ianto. Who was in the main area of the Hub with them. We hear him call Jack “Captain”, not sir or Jack, and then there is the torch….
Hands up who wants to guess what Ianto is thinking about?
Ianto thinks that Jack has put them into lockdown.
Jack tells him to reverse and goes to walk away. Ianto responds with “I can’t”
He informs Jack that the “doors are sealed” and they are “locked in”. He glances nervously over at the main Cog door now. The little smile that he had when Jack had called his name is gone.
The next time we see the team, they are still trapped in the Hub and Jack and Ianto are coming down the stairs, both with torches now. They all meet up back at Tosh’s desk to work out what is going on. When Jack and Owen head down to see what Max is up to, he leaves Tosh and Ianto back in the main area. Ianto has stood to the side while Jack and Tosh have been trying to work out what is going on. When Jack and Owen return to the main area and talk to Tosh about what has really been happening, they are all unaware that Ianto is sitting by the water tower working away quietly. Once he has it fixed he announces it “I’ve got reception Sir.”
He stands and waits for Jack to come to him.
Jack is confused as to how Ianto has done it. Ianto states that he just used the water tower as a relay. Just like before, once the Hub had gone into lockdown, we get Ianto not looking away from Jack, holding his gaze.
Ianto offers Jack the phone
Jack has a very pleased smile on his face for Ianto, but Ianto maintains his stoic appearance.
Jack is still smiling as he joins Owen and Tosh and he turns to compliment Ianto.
Ianto has positioned himself to Jack’s right shoulder during the phone conversation with Detective Swanson (the woman with Jack immunity!)
We also get a small instance of mirroring again with Ianto at one stage holding the torch over his shoulder just like Jack has the phone up to his ear.
Ianto feels comfortable enough to toss a loaded weapon at Tosh, but that is the extent of his involvement it seems to rescue Gwen.
Part 6 c - They Keep Killing Suzie
