Meat - part a
The episodes open with the team out and about. Ianto again being fully included.
and it is Ianto that Jack looks to for information, in fact it is Ianto who is off gathering the information.
Ianto is back to his old tricks of not looking at Jack
He rushes over to take notes, while the rest of the team are still standing around and thinking.
and then goes to work before telling the team what he has found
Ianto announces the food.
Again imparting knowledge and how adorable that he has his napkin on again, but also he has a serviette in his hand too!
As I noted in Jack’s POV for this episode, he has been ‘hemmed’ in by Jack, and yet he is comfortable with it. His body is angled slightly towards Jack, even though he is addressing the others.
See very comfortable together.
Again, the competent agent out in the field and it is he who Jack mainly addresses his comments to.
Well and truly competent field agent.
Now we get to an interesting scene, waiting for Gwen to bring Rhys back to the Hub. Ianto, Owen and Tosh are sharing a drink and it seems that this might be a semi regular ritual as Ianto has a stash of beers sitting over at his workplace area. As well as having various sizes of drinking glasses, not just coffee mugs. Ianto has separated himself again slightly from the other two team members. This time we can’t blame Jack for separating him, it was purely Ianto himself who placed himself to lean up against the stairway. The scene starts with him checking to see Jack watching Owen and Tosh.
He then looks back to listen in to Tosh and Owen who are discussing having a partner find out about what they actually do for a living.
Do the team really know that Jack asked Ianto on a date? That they have possibly resumed their previous relationship, or actually moved ahead with new understanding? I would suggest not because when Tosh says that they are all “sad and single” referring to the three people in the room, one of them is very smug about a little secret they have.
He is very happy to not be “sad and single” but also very happy to not tell his fellow workmates that he is now seeing the boss. From TLLM and Sleeper we saw that Ianto really likes to know things that other people don’t.
Ianto then confirms that he is firmly thinking about Jack in terms of that smug smile on his face as he glances up towards the glasshouse where Jack is.
The two share a silent moment of communication where Ianto picks up that Jack is not happy about the situation and quite possibly very aware of the conversation.
Just like in TLLM where Ianto’s mood changed depending on what he picked up from Jack was feeling, here it happens again.
Now he is as pensive and concerned as Jack.
But also knowing that Jack is watching him, so he is trying not to give away anything that he is feeling and appear casual.
