Unexpected "What are you going to do with all your stuff?" Cain asked as DG pressed a kiss to his chest. "I think hauling all this up the mountain might draw some attention..."
DG lifted her head enough to catch his lips with hers and shook her head. "Apartment was furnished," she mumbled between kisses. "Furniture stays." Cain nodded and cleared his throat as DG shifted her weight slightly. It was rather distracting to have DG on top of him.
"Josh and Simon can go through the books and movies. Rest'll go to the Huntington or the public library," she said with a shrug, sitting up and smiling down to Cain. "Sash can go through the clothes and the rest can go to Goodwill." She leaned forward to press a kiss to his lips and Cain smiled.
"All I need to take back is you." Wrapping one arm around her waist, Cain managed to flip DG over so that he was now on top of her. He gave her a wink and leaned over the edge of the bed for a moment.
When he moved back, he had the blue slip in his hand and he nodded. "And this."
DG smiled and raised an eyebrow. "Dirty old man," she said with a grin.
"Well, I had intended to take a shower when I got home from work," Cain defended. "-but I was attacked by a crazy girl wearing my clothes."
"That's terrible," DG said with fake shock. Cain nodded and leaned down to kiss her again. The sound of DG's phone ringing again caused them both to look toward the dresser, where the phone still sat.
"She is going to keep calling," Cain said as the ringing stopped. DG sighed heavily and stretched underneath Cain, holding her hand out toward the phone.
"Can't reach it," she said with a shrug and let her hands moved back to Cain’s waist.
"You aren't going to be able to make excuses in the Zone, Princess. When people want to talk to you, you'll have to talk to them."
"Oh, I'll talk to them," DG nodded. "But only during the approved 'talk to me' times.” Cain raised an eyebrow. "Don't worry,” she said with a wicked grin. "You can talk to me any time you want." Cain raised an eyebrow and dropped his chin to his chest as the phone rang again.
"Oh, for the love of-" DG huffed and slid out from underneath Cain and hurried across the room to the dresser. As she picked up the phone and flipped it open, Cain reached over to the lamp and flipped the light on.
"Sash- ...No, I've heard it every time... because I was busy..." DG moved back to the bed and threw a glance back to Cain, who had leaned forward and grabbed her wrist. As she sat down on the edge of the bed, DG rolled her eyes and nodded.
"Actually, Sash: it was important... I was taking your advice. No, really," she said, turning to look at Cain. "Lots and lots of sex." Cain raised an eyebrow and looked away quickly as a smile spread across his face. "She doesn't believe me," DG said to Cain, pulling the phone away slightly.
Cain held out his hand and took the phone from her. "Hey, Sasha..." Cain nodded and glanced down to the sheet. "Nope... Yep... Lots." His eyes moved up to DG and he smiled. "Very... Sasha? Call tomorrow." With that, Cain closed the phone and handed it back to DG.
"What did she say to you?" DG asked with interest. The phone rang again and DG popped the battery off the back and looked at Cain with wide eyes. "Oops." She twisted and put the phone and battery on the nightstand and turned back as Cain's hand found hers.
"That should be an interesting message," she said with a nod to the phone. Cain nodded and pulled on her hand, drawing her closer to him so he could kiss her again. DG pressed against him and her arms went around his neck while his went around her waist. He shifted both their weights and dropped DG to the bed so he was, once again, on top of her and he pulled away.
DG watched as Cain leaned over the side of the bed for a second and moved back with the envelope in his hand. "Speaking of messages from Sasha," he said, pursing his lips and waving the envelope in front of her. "Maybe you can clear something up for me." Cain put all his weight on his elbows and pulled the notes out of the envelope, while DG continued to stare at him.
"This one is my favorite, by the way," he said, waving the sunburn letter at her for a moment. Cain found the page in question and cleared his throat. "First: What did Sasha do that you want to kill her for?" His eyebrows went up and he stared at DG, waiting for an answer. He could tell she was trying to think up an excuse for the envelope, but he'd get to that in a moment.
Turning the note to DG, he pointed to the first line and tapped it with his finger. DG blinked and looked away. Reaching for the blue slip, she held up the wad of blue fabric and forced a smile. Cain looked from DG to the fabric and then turned the letter back around. 'Ahh..'
"Next question... 'If one more person tells me you know what they say about friends, I will seriously slap someone'," he read. He dropped the letter and looked at DG. "Now, the day before," he said, reaching for the note about the surfing lessons. "-Josh said that to me. You wrote it here and, two weeks ago, you said it to Josh." DG nodded.
"What exactly do people say about friends?" he asked, shaking his head slightly. DG bit her lip for a second and the slightest smile started growing on her lips.
Her fingers grazed lightly over his ribs and she nodded as she answered: "It's a saying. 'You know what they say about friends'... is that friends make the best lovers." Cain looked back to the note and considered the new information. Nodding slowly, he returned the letter to the stack and looked back to DG.
"Okay, Princess. Now, we talk about your lack of covert skills," he said with a half-smirk. "I admit," he started, holding up a finger. "The night you pulled it out of that box, you were good. But I saw it," he said with a grim nod. "And that," he nodded back to where the envelope was. "What's that?" he shook his head. "Plain sight, Princess?"
DG pressed her tongue to her upper teeth and glanced away with a smile and turned back. She had no excuse, really. Giving him a slight shrug, she smiled. "I love you?"
Cain nodded and took a deep breath. "Just remember," he said, pointing to himself. "I said it first."
DG snorted. "Okay, toe pick," she nodded and his eyes narrowed. Cain grabbed the stack of letters and rolled over to his side of the bed and pulled DG to him. He held up the first page for her to see and read the note to her in a low voice. They proceeded to read the rest of the notes together and DG explained some of the comments Cain hadn't understood before.
