Now that I've reached a quarter of the way there, I can take a step back and slow down a bit.
For today's photo post I'm sharing some photos from when I visited Kew Gardens in London. The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew are impressive and large, and quite far away for me to be able to visit often, not to mention expensive. But they are lovely.
The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew was founded in 1759, and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. This being the UK, there are big rolling expanses of nature and trees, but there are also lots of greenhouses. We visited in early spring when it was still very cold and slushy and the flowers weren't out yet, so we spent a lot of time in the greenhouses. Going into the tropical ones, especially is like stepping into a different world.
The Gardens are under constant construction, so you can find really old greenhouses with impressive ironwork, but you can also find modern greenhouses with impressive shapes and expanses of glass.
