Gah, I forgot about this again, 100 things blog challenge! So here's one more update. Want to take bets how long it eventually takes me to reach #100? I started over a year ago and I'm still at number 6!

This is from the Chora in Serifos, one of the most picturesque villages in the Cyclades.

There is a reason the first modernists were so struck by the greek islands of the cyclades. It is said that Le Corbusier filled notebooks with sketches from the islands and their architecture. The stark simplicity of the traditional architecture and it's minimal colours, together with the unrelenting bright light of Greece and the barren severe landscape, have a very modernist aesthetic. You wander the winding streets in the sweltering heat of the high summer, your eyes almost watering from the bright glare of the relentless sun reflecting off from all that stark pure white, pure geometrical shapes surrounding you. It's one of those amazing experiences that leave you feeling somehow more complete.
