Remember this? The
100 things blog challenge? Everyone has either finished theirs, or dropped out by now. But a year later I have decided to finish it. Now that I'm forcing myself to post a photo a week on my wordpress blog it will become much easier.
Sometimes when you are travelling through the city you will suddenly come across something unexpected and amazing. And if you are like me, it will make your day.
Yes, this is real place, not a film set. Anyone who has visited Paris will know it. It's the métro station Arts et Métiers, named after the adjacent museum,
Musée des Arts et Métiers . In 1994, the station was redesigned by Belgian comics artist François Schuiten. And the result was this steampunk awesomeness. Put it on your list of places to see if you ever visit Paris.
It's little things like this that make me love living in big cities so much. You will get all sort of pleasant surprises as long as you pay attention. Coming across something as whimsical as this on my daily commute really brightens my day. Yes, I'm easy to please.
François Schuiten is best known from the series of graphic novels
Les Cités Obscures (Cities of the Fantastic).
