Warrick landed face first on the bed when his limbs finally gave up. Don slumped down next to him. Both men took a minute to let their breathing calm down.
“If that’s the reaction you get from a dog collar, we’re definitely keeping this….” Warrick panted and buried his face to the pillow.
“Good boy.”
“Woof, woof….”
“And don’t worry, I didn’t get a doggie bowl for you.” Don planted a kiss on the man’s shoulder. “I’m not that pervy.”
“Good, because I wouldn’t wanna bite the hand that….” Warrick rumbled in his haze state. “I can’t say feed, because I didn’t have time to eat before you started the whole thing….”
“You don’t wanna bite the hands that gets you off?”
“That’s pretty close to reality….”
“Poochie?”
“Don’t call me that.”
“I just wanna tell you something.”
“What?”
“You probably don’t know this.”
“Just say it.”
“Good sex makes you say some really weird stuff.”

Dentist’s office, Miami
“Eric.”
“Whhhaaat?”
“Let go off my hand, your hurting me.”
“Doonnnnzzzz lleeeeve meeee alllooon!”
“I`m not leaving you alone, but you gotta stop squeezing my hand or you’ll break some bones.”
“Soollliee….”
“It’s okay. I’ll be right here.”
“Lith heelll.”
“Yeah, right here.” Ryan turned around on his desk and leaned closer to the dentists who was preparing her instruments. “How long is he going to talk like that?”
“Probably few hours.” She stated. “It will get easier when I take the cotton swabs out of his mouth.”
“And is he going to be that loopy the whole time?”
“Impossible to say, everyone reacts to the meds in their own ways.”
“He can’t stay on his own two feet after few cups of cough syrup.”
“Then he’ll be out of it for hours.”

Warrick`s apartment, Las Vegas
“I’m coming!” Don wrapped a well-worn bathrobe around his body and walked to the front door.
“Finally, I’ve been ringing the doorbell for-” Catherine stopped rummaging her bag long enough to realise who the man opening the door was. “You.”
“Yeah, me.” Don gave her a cheerful smile. “Can I help you?”
“Warrick forgot his phone into the locker room.” She handed the cell phone to Don.
“Thanks, that was considerate. You want to come in for some coffee?”
“Is Warrick….?”
“He’s napping.”
“Of course….” Catherine bit her bottom lip to control the urge to made certain snaky remarks. “I have to go get some sleep too.”
“Rough shift?”
“Yeah.”
“Rick was really tired too when he got home.” Don stated. “But then he perked for a while… and then he was exhausted again.”
“I’ll let you both have some rest, Lindsay’s-”
Don waited but she didn`t continue.
“What?”
She just stared past him. Don turned around and realised Warrick had stepped out of the bedroom, half-asleep and still wearing the dog collar. The leash was hanging loosely around his torso.
“Cath?” He finally yawned. He was still more asleep than awake.
“You….you….” Catherine stammered. “I can’t believe this. Is this what you would have asked me to do to you if I had given up?”
“Given up what?”
“You chased me for years just to find someone who would play your creepy games with you?” The redhead looked like her face was beginning to match the tint of her hair. “I always knew there was something creepy about you!”
“I never chased you-”
”You always made those sleazy remarks about cases! Like when we had that case in that underground club with whips and chains.”
”Calm down.” Don commented and tried in vain to keep the grin off his face. ”No one’s asking you to get a collar. But if you do wanna get one, make sure it matches the leash.”
"You’re enabling him!” She accused. ”Two pervs!”
"Coming from you I’ll have to take that as a compliment.”
"You know what? Keep him. Keep the creep, I wouldn’t take him if you paid me.”
She turned on her heels and stormed out of the apartment, slamming the door shut behind her.
“Is she always like that?” Don asked and handed the cell phone over to Warrick.
“Don’t ask me, I don’t even know what just happened. I never tried to pick her up for any pervy games, we just flirted. That’s all.”
“I know. I think she’s mixed up her stages.”
“What stages?”
“You know how they have these stages of grief and lost? Aggression, forced humour, denial and delusion, and whatever else there is..”
“How can you grieve something that never was?”
“Very easily. She’s gone through denial, aggression, denial again, and delusion. Maybe that whole Keep-Him thing is the final stage”
“How many stages is there? Twelve?”
“No idea.” Don shrugged. “She lost, I won. I don’t need any steps.”

Parking lot, Miami
“Eric? Stay on your own seat, or we’ll be here all day.”
“Iiimmmm compie….”
“I don’t care how comfy you are, I will not start this car until you’re on your own seat and you got your seatbelt on.”
Eric, who was currently resting his head on Ryan’s crotch made a small groan and tried to lift his head. It hit the steering wheel and dropped right back.
“Eric, I know you’re tired and you want to go to sleep, but if you don’t get a grip of yourself we’re gonna get pulled over by cops when they think you’re doing something funny down there.”
“Iii caaaannn oooo ombing unniiii….”
“No, you can’t do something funny if you don’t want to walk home.”
“Iii cannnnt geee myy ead uup…”
“I know you don’t have much head for meds of any sort, but when we get home you can sleep it off and then I’ll make you something nice and mushy that doesn’t aggravate your teeth.” Ryan grabbed Eric by the neck, pulled him up and prodded him against the backrest of the passenger seat.
“Aaa eeee eeerrr et?”
“No, we’re not there yet.” He hooked Eric’s seatbelt and sighed deeply. “Finally… I’m not good with grown kids.”
Eric mumbled and Ryan had to listen carefully to figure out what the man was saying.
“As tempting as that is, I have to say No. You can’t make it up to me on your knees when we get home.”
“Whhyyy oooott?”
“Because you have no control over your mouth after those shots she gave you and I’m not letting your loose teeth anywhere near my privates when you’re in that shape. And I don’t think you could even stay on your knees without falling over.”
