“Flack….”
“Hey, Don.”
“Stella?”
“Is this a bad time?”
“No, I was still sleeping. Nightshift, remember?”
“I forgot, sorry. We can talk later-”
“Nah, I’m awake anyway. How’s stuff?”
“Stuff?”
“General stuff.”
“Everyone’s doing good.”
“Even Danny?” Don smirked.
“Even Danny, he finally got off the couch. He and Lindsay are going through a smoother phase for a change.”
“How long do you think it’ll last?”
“Maybe few weeks. What about you? Are you still in bed or on the couch?”
“Warrick wouldn’t put me on the couch.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Definite. We have this waking up routine that we do almost every day when we wake up. I wake up first, I grope him and nibble his neck till he wakes up, we make out for a while and then we either take a shower or have sex. Or fool around in the shower. The finale depends on the mood.”
“Thank you.” Stella commented. “Just what a single woman wants to hear. Guys are not interested because they’re doing each other.”
“Missing me already?”
“Don’t flatter yourself.” She giggled. “But I do understand why you snatched someone from out of state. Men in New York are a breed of their own.”
“Should I be offended?”
“Well, there’s some exceptions.”
“Good to hear that. How are you doing? Honestly.”
“I’m good. Work’s good.”
“But you can’t live on GSR and DNA matches alone….”
“Don’t think you’re the expert on dating just because you’re currently taken.”
“I don’t, but I’ve had enough bad experiences to serve as a warning example.”
“You got that right…. And I don’t mind being single, I really don’t. Sometimes it’s just weird to be the only one left.”
“Mac’s still single, right?”
“And I’m not interested in a workaholic who acts like my big brother.” She sighed. “Even Hawkes is having that new-relationship haze going on.”
“Hawkes? Since when does he even leave the lab to go home?”
“Maybe relationships was too strong word for it, they’ve been on one date.”
“Is it someone I know?”
“Yep. You want the name or some clues?”
“Clues. I need to keep my detective skills well-honed.”
“Okay. Light brown hair, nice eyes. Talks a lot-”
“Adam?”
“How the hell did you guess?”
“Isn’t it obvious? Two science geeks getting together…. It was just a question of when.”
“Well…. I….” Stella stammered. “I did suspect Adam, but how did you know Hawkes went that way?”
“I think he goes both ways actually.”
“I didn’t know, Mac didn’t know and most of the lab looked like someone hit them on the head. How did you know?”
“I caught him checking out my ass quite a few times. And then he looked awkward and made some lame remarks about RNA or DNA or whatever to change the topic. Same diversion tactic every time.”
“Did you ever see him eyeing my ass?”
“Just once. He took a good look at it, then shrugged and went on with his job.”
“Enough about that.” Stella interrupted, trying to cover her chuckles. “Let the boys have their fun, we have enough nasty stuff to work on anyway.”
“Good policy.”
“So what about yours?”
“My policy?”
“Your CSI.”
“Right, that… He`s sleeping.”
“You want to hung up and wake him up?”
“I’m already working on it.” Don chuckled. “I switched to hands-free five minutes ago. You wanna know where my hands are right now?”
“I have no interest in phonesex where I don’t have anything to do with the main event. I’ll call you later.”

Crime lab, Miami
“Eric?”
“Yeah.”
“If you don’t take those off you’ll get hurt.”
“I just bumped against the table, it was nothing.”
“Eric, the only person I know who wears sunglasses inside is Horatio. And it looks just as weird when he does it.”
“Fine.” Eric peeled off the glasses and blinked. “It’s bright in here….”
“No brighter than normally. For the last time: People are busy with their own work, they’re not giving you funny looks. Except when you’re wearing sunglasses indoors.”
“They all know saw it.”
“They didn’t see it. That thing was on the wall for less than thirty minutes before Valera agreed to take it down. Majority of people have no idea you’ve written dirty stories for a porn mag.”
“Yesterday I heard Valera quoting it in the cafeteria!”
“She’s just trying to show her support.”
“By telling people how hot the slab-scene was. You wouldn’t believe the questions people are asking….”
“I would. And it’s normal that they are curious, you wrote how we had quickie on the morgue slab next to a stiff.”
“He was on a separate slab!”
“I don’t think that really matters when it comes to rumours.”
“They think I’m some necrophilic pornographer who bends over for you when there’s dead people around!”
“And you wanted to write about our sexlife, so you have only yourself to blame.” Ryan stated. “Besides, it’s only been few days. When the next big gossip comes, no one will remember your morgue sessions.”
“Our morgue session. You were there too.”
“Yeah.” Ryan grinned. “You wanna hear some good news?”
“New studies show it’s possible to die from embarrassment?”
“No, but you’ll be kicked of the centre stage when the word starts spreading.”
“What word? And when did you hear it?”
“Ten minutes ago when I walked in. You would have heard it too if you hadn’t come in through the back way.”
“Just tell me.”
“Valera came to work straight from the hospital.”
“Hospital?”
“Don’t worry, she’s fine. It’s detective Fenwick.”
“Work related or…..?”
“Well, apparent she did work him pretty hard. There was a sex-related injury.”
“That doesn’t sound very nice…”
“You’ll undoubtedly get the full unabridged story from her later. She’s practically bragging how no man can keep up with her when it comes to sex.”
“But the guy’s alright?”
“According to her, the doctor gave him a warning. If they don’t quit those trying those freaky Kama Sutra positions he’ll have to have a hip replacement before he`s forty.”
