Final day of the Seminar
-----
Hotel, New York
“-so anyway, I’ll see you at the airport.” Nick finished. “What time are you landing?”
“Twelve twenty-five. Are you bringing the little wife with you?”
“Greg wants to interrogate you as soon as you get here.”
“Interrogate me?”
“I would tell you, but that might make you decide to stay in New York indefinitely…..”
“Thanks for the warning. I’ll be heading to the airport in half an hour, the traffic is pure murder.”
“So was my case.”
“Funny…. See you.”
“Bye.”
As soon as Warrick hung up, Don stepped in to grab the last bag from the floor.
“Everything else is in the car. You don’t mind company, do you?”
“What kinda company?”
“The Miami Flight leaves five minutes after your’s, so I offered to give the guys a ride.”
“The guys?”
“Wolfie and Delko.”
“You’ve known them for a week, and now they’re the guys?”
“What can I say, I’m a friendly guy.”
“Really friendly…..”
“Think about the first day. You looked lost and I very friendly offered my help. And the next day I helped you to bed.”
“I wasn’t lost.”
“Right, you were looking for a best place to pick up your very own disco bunny.”
“Don’t remind me about that place…. I still can’t believe you actually recommended that club.”
“I didn’t recommend it, I just said it was probably the tames place in the area.”
“I felt like a dirty old man in the middle of a kindergarten.”
“Skip that comparison, we had a nasty case last year.”
“Are we going now?” Warrick switched the topic. He would be in the plane in four hours, and he didn’t want to spend the remaining time talking about old cases.
“As soon as those two get themselves together.”
“They still haven’t packed?”
“They’ve packed, but they got little bit excited at the breakfast table. Something about Ryan, sausages and croissants.”
“Croissants?”
“Delko dragged him back to their room so fast you missed the whole scene.”
“Where was I when it happened?”
“Remember the passion fruit incident?”
“When that creepy crow from San Francisco tried to….”
“Yeah, but it was an understandable mistake.”
“She thought I was a hooker! How the hell is that understandable?”
“She had asked the doorman to get her one and you looked the part.“ Don laughed. “Totally understandable.”
“I looked the part? You mean I should be charging you for sex?”
“No. If you charged me for the whole week, I’d go bankrupt.”
Ryan peeked his head in and gave them a hasty smile.
“Are we late?”
“Not yet.”
“Well, I’m sorry anyway. Eric has this thing for breakfast sausages.”
“I’m not sure I wanna hear….” Warrick groaned.
“Every time I eat something like that his eyes turn glazy and he accuses me of trying to get him going in a public place.”
“Is that why you do it?”
“Occasionally.”
“Where’s he now?” Don interrupted.
“I send him downstairs with our bags.”
“You send him? You got him well whipped.”
“Let’s just say I have few trump cards I can use anytime I want.”

Airport, New York
“I think this is where we say bye.” Ryan stated and pulled his bag more tightly to his shoulder. “You got my address, mail me.”
“You too.” Don game him a smile and the Miami due headed to their departure gate.
“What was that?” Warrick questioned with a stern look. “That mail me.”
“Exactly what it sounds like. We got along and we exchanged e-mail addresses.”
“Just e-mail addresses?”
“Have I told you how hot it is when you get all jealous on me, honey bunny?”
“Don’t call me that and change your tone, or I’ll revoke your invitation.” That shifted Warrick`s thought into a whole new area. Don still hadn’t said anything about going to Vegas or when he could take his vacation. “Wait a minute….”
“What?”
“They forgot their bag.” Warrick pointed to the bag laying on the floor next to his feet. “That’s not mine.”
“It’s not theirs either.”
“You grabbed someone else’s bag? Someone’s going nuts at the hotel right now!”
“Nobody’s going nuts, that’s my bag.”
“What are you doing with a bag?”
“You mean you’d lend me your briefs?”
“Why do you wanna borrow my briefs?”
“You want me to go commando in Sin City? That’s risky….”
“Can you just say what you’re saying because right now I’m getting this weird urge to hack off your head and shove it to a blender.”
“I’m on the same flight.”
“To Vegas?”
“No, to Nantucket.”
“You’re coming to Vegas now?”
“No, in about six hours.”
“You’re coming to Vegas?” Warrick repeated. His mind was still too stuck on that fact to move on. “On the same flight?”
“Yeah, and don’t look so surprised. You suggested it.”
“I had no idea you’d come with me right away!”
“Boss thought it would be easier to have my vacation now, since I already had to delegate all my open cases to others because of that seminar week.”
“So they just let you go?”
“For a while. It was easier than trying to fit my vacation in around the holidays when everyone with families wanna get some time off.”
“And you’re coming to Vegas right now?”
“Yep. You said your buddy will pick us up from the airport, right?” Don smirked and picked up his bag. “Can’t wait to meet him.”
“You’re really trying to rattle me, aren’t you?”
“I’m doing my best.”
