“We gotta do something.” Eric giggled. “If she’s that desperate, we have to help her.”
“What are you planning?” Ryan sighed. “Take her to a bar, get her drunk and pay the bouncer to take her to the backroom?”
“No. If it don’t work out we can’t go to that bar ever again.”
“What bar? You haven’t even named it.”
“Any bar. Bouncers and waitresses are always off-limits. Ten minutes in the bathroom is not worth having to find another regular haunt.”
“Your skills of prioritising are astonishing.” Ryan deadpanned.
“Thanks. So that leaves one option: We’ll find her a man.”
“You can really move from one role to the next: You started from a cocky CSI, moved onto play a totally whipped CSI, then a sexually frustrated Romeo when I was gone, and now a man-hunting humanitarian.”
“I can do scuba diving too.” Eric grinned. “Come on, I’m satisfied on all levels, so I wanna help my friend to get laid. That’s the first level.”
“What’s the highest level?”
“Come here, I’ll show you.”
“If we weren’t at work, I would.”
“Hold on to that thought…. But back to business-”
“Good idea, did you get the results yet?”
“No, and I wasn’t talking about that. I meant the manhunt.”
“Manhunt? You make it sound like we’re gonna start chasing guys on the street.”
“Nope, that’s Natalia’s technique.”
“I’ll take your word for it….”
“We need to start by mapping out the possibilities: Do we have any suitable guys here in the lab?”
“Well…. How bout Harrison from the nightshift?”
“Too pretty.”
“Pretty?”
“Girls don’t like it when the guy is pretties than she is.”
“So are we looking for a total dog? Meaning looks, not moral.”
“Not someone ugly, but someone little bit rugged and manly.”
“Stettler?”
“Quarido…. That was so wrong…. so wrong….”
“Well, he’s definitely not too pretty!”
“I think I just lost my desire to have sex ever again…. Stettler…. I’m never getting jiggy with you again…..”
“I’ll let you tie me up with that pink tie.”
“Okay, my sex drive’s back. Just don’t mention Stetler ever again.”
“Cooper.”
“Mini?”
“Dan.”
“No way.”
“Why not? He’s unbearable, but he can keep his mouth shut if there’s a chance to get laid.”
“How do you know that?”
“Did you see him with that blond from L.A. who was here for that training week? Cooper was on his best behaviour, you would have had difficulties recognising him.”
“Did he get anywhere?”
“He did get something from her at the wrap party.”
“A quickie?”
“A drink in the face and kick in the joystick.”
“Good for her. What about advertising?”
“We already have the pictures on the message board.”
“Advertising for a guy. We could put her profile on a dating site or something.”
“I don’t think she’d like that.”
“We don’t need to tell her. We’ll check the guys and pick up a good one.”
“How do you explain your screening process to the guys? They’ll probably get suspicious if you start interrogating them.”
“I can be discreet.”
“Right….”
“I can!” Eric pulled out his laptop and opened a blank text file. “So what kinda man are we looking for her?”
“Someone who’s willing to tolerate an overactive, bossy Latino who can’t keep his nose out of other people’s business.”
“That’s a good start. What else…. Looks. He has to be decent looking, but not too pretty.”
“Knowledge of lab work would be good.”
“Yeah, and dexterity. And durability. Valera is one naughty girl.”
“How do you know that?”
“One of my buddies dated her couple years ago. After two weeks she had run him so ragged he had to call it off for heath reasons.”
