Luke opened his eyes, confused about where he was a for a second. The last thing he remembered was sitting at Noah's bedside. He realized that his face was nestled in Reid's neck, and lifted his head in surprise. Reid was still sleeping, his head leaning back against the couch, his mouth open slightly.

Luke's face flushed with embarrassment. How had he gotten here? How had he fallen asleep on Reid? He shifted and Reid, who was apparently a light sleeper, blinked at him sleepily.

“Good Morning.” Reid smiled at him.

“Morning.” Luke mumbled, ducking his head and glancing at Reid through his eyelashes. “Stupid question...how did we end up here?” Reid gave him a long look, and then shook his head.

“You really were out of it.”

“Apparently.” He ran a shaky hand through his hair, thoroughly mussing it. “So, how..?” Luke trailed off.

“You were asleep in Noah's room, and I brought you down here because I thought it would be more comfortable.” Reid searched his gaze intently, and Luke felt a little exposed. “You really don't remember?”

“No.” Luke felt sheepish, and he was sure it showed on his face. Reid made a noise in disbelief and then glanced at his watch.

“I should go check on Noah.”

“Will he be awake?”

“Do you see a parade of nurses in here, cooing about us sleeping together?”

“No.” Luke replied, confused.

“Then Noah hasn't woken up yet.” Reid told him. “They are under strict instructions to get me the minute he wakes up.”

“Right.” Luke said. “I should let you go check on him then.” He felt awkward, like he was missing something important, but he didn't know what.

“I'll do that.” Reid agreed. “Why don't you go find us some coffee, and wake up a little.”

“Yeah, okay.” Luke said, his hand going through his hand again. Reid reaches over and grabs Luke's hand, gently pulling it from his hair.

“You keep doing that, and I'm going to do something about it.” Reid told him, his eyes suddenly darker and intense. Luke swallowed hard. Reid sighed, and let go of his hand. “Right. Checking on Noah.”

“Coffee.” Luke managed. They shared a look, and then Luke forced himself up off the couch. He flashed Reid a shy smile, and then left the office.

Luke opened the door to Noah's room, two cups of coffee in his hands. Reid turned around and saw him, smiling when he saw who it was. Luke silently handed him the coffee, and looked down at Noah.

“He's waking up.” Reid said quietly. “Should be any time.”

“Should I...?” Reid put a hand on his shoulder.

“Talk to him.” Luke sat down in the chair, and took Noah's hand after glancing at Reid. Reid's gaze was kind, and Luke knew that it was about Noah now, and not whatever he and Noah once were.

“Noah, it's Luke.” He began, feeling self-conscious. “It's time to wake up.” Nothing. Luke looked at Reid, who was wearing an amused expression. Embarrassed, he kept talking. “Come one, Noah.” Luke nearly demanded. “Wake up already.”

Noah's fingers twitched in his hand, and he breathed deeply for a second.

“Luke?” Noah slurred.

“Yeah.” Luke answered. “It's me.” He squeezed Noah's hand.

“Noah, it's Dr. Oliver.” Reid interrupted.

“Surgery?” Noah slurred again.

“That's right.” Reid replied. “The surgery went well.” Noah licked his lips, and then raised a shaking hand to his face, touching the bandages.

“Don't do that.” Luke said gently, grabbing his other hand and holding it too. Noah seemed to struggle for words.

“Can I...” He tried. “See?”

“We'll find out soon enough.” Reid told him. “I just have a few questions first.” Luke listened as Reid questioned Noah about his name, some dates, and other things. As Noah talked, his speech slowly started getting better, and Luke couldn't keep the smile off of his face. Reid's pager went off then, the loud beeping sound startling the three men.

Reid glanced at it and sighed.

“It's a 911.” He said. “I need to go take care of this.” Reid touched Luke's shoulder lightly. “When I get back, Noah, we'll take those bandages off and see what we're dealing with.”

“Can't wait.”

Reid left the room, the door shutting loudly behind him.

“Luke?”

“Yeah?” Luke felt him squeeze both hands. “I meant what I said before.” He paused. “I want you to be the first thing I see.”

“Noah...”

“I mean it, Luke.” Noah swallowed. “I want to see your eyes.”

“It shouldn't be too much longer.” Luke said, and then started to pull his hands out of Noah's. Noah tightened his grip and Luke froze.

“Does...the guy you're seeing. Does he know you're here?”

“He does.” Luke answered.

“And he was okay with you dropping everything to be with your ex?”

“It's not like we're just hanging out, Noah. You just had major surgery.” Luke sighed. “He was surprisingly okay with it.”

“That doesn't tell you anything?”

“What's that supposed to mean?” Luke asked, getting upset now. “He trusts me.”

“Does he?”

“Of course.” Now Luke was getting angry. “Noah, what are you doing?”

“I'm just pointing out that the new guy in your life doesn't seem to care that you're here with me.”

“So?” Luke was confused now.

“How much can he really care about you if you're here with me and he doesn't care?”

Reid chose that moment to come back, Luke biting back his reply. He stared hard at Luke, and Luke knew he'd heard at least part of their conversation.

“All right, Noah.” Reid said.

“Dr. Oliver...you're back.”

“I am.” Reid walked over to the bed, and set Noah's chart down. He went over to a drawer, and pulled out a pair of scissors. He went back to Noah's side, leaning forward and slipping a hand under Noah's bandages. “Let's see how good I am.” He cut them swiftly, and Luke unconsciously held his breath. The bandages were pulled away, the gauze removed from Noah's eyes. Noah still held them closed.

“Open your eyes, Noah.” Reid said gently.

“Luke.” With a sigh, Luke leg go of one of Noah's hands, touching Noah's chin and turning his head so they were face to face.

“Go ahead, Noah.”

Noah opened his eyes slowly, blinking a lot, his eyes watering.

“Well?” Luke asked, hope in his voice. “What do you see?”
