It is anon's personal headcanon that the original 13 colonies were not America's kids, but the kids of the nations that settled them, and/or their native peoples. Or just appeared like America and Canada did maybe? (Supported by the fact the 13 were sovereign states under the Articles of Confederacy.)
This means Vermont would be Alfred's first baby. Vermont was originally settled by France, and it was made the 14th state while America and France were still in alliance with each other ('born' in 1791). What anon wants to see is mpregAmerica, who has NO IDEA what's happening to him, with France as the papa. France eventually puzzles it out, and has to explain what's going on to America.
Bonus: The average age of a first pregnancy for colonial women at that time was 22-23. Because of this, America's youth is a concern (assuming if he's 19 'now', he was 16-ish back then?).

All right, anons. Once upon a time, the United States, under the suggestion of the French Canal Syndicate, wanted to build a canal in a Colombian province named Panama. There was some intense negotiation, and a treaty was signed by the US Senate, but the Colombian Senate rejected it and asked for $10 million more than the treaty had originally allowed for.
Enter a French lobbyist named Philippe-Jean Bunau Varilla. Dude came to the White House and convinced Roosevelt that the best way to get around Columbia's decision was to fuck around with domestic politics... by inspiring Panama to secede from Columbia. Roosevelt decided this was a great idea, and basically incited a civil war. Panama announced it was independent, and Roosevelt kept it that way: he promptly cockblocking Colombia from interfering.

Anon's headcanon states that France was America's first, back when the USA was slowly becoming a nation and both countries were completely enthralled with each other. They were likely in love, even- but the world moves on, Quasi-War, so on so forth. They've had other relationships, probably rekindled theirs during the last generation/generation of flames thing, moved on again, been involved in different things...
Only modern day, France is made to confront/realize that Alfred's feelings never changed, and he's been crushing (or even in love) with France since the 1770's or so and just didn't say it because he assumed the Country of Love knew and just didn't say anything so they didn't have to do a rejection speech (because Canada's France's favorite, America's sure, and France has Germany and England and Europeans and still finds the USA hopelessly backdated, and all those things that the USA is slightly insecure about when it comes to France). France is sort of bemused, but somewhat touched/charmed despite it, and... I get some sweet France/USA(/France) and we all win?

It is anon's personal headcanon that the original 13 colonies were not America's kids, but the kids of the nations that settled them, and/or their native peoples. Or just appeared like America and Canada did maybe? (Supported by the fact the 13 were sovereign states under the Articles of Confederacy.)
This means Vermont would be Alfred's first baby. Vermont was originally settled by France, and it was made the 14th state while America and France were still in alliance with each other ('born' in 1791). What anon wants to see is mpregAmerica, who has NO IDEA what's happening to him, with France as the papa. France eventually puzzles it out, and has to explain what's going on to America.

Anon's headcanon states that France was America's first, back when the USA was slowly becoming a nation and both countries were completely enthralled with each other. They were likely in love, even- but the world moves on, Quasi-War, so on so forth. They've had other relationships, probably rekindled theirs during the last generation/generation of flames thing, moved on again, been involved in different things...
