Taking a small break from the handsewing of eyelets because my fingers are very sore. Why I do them, when I dislike making them, I don't know. But they continue. So far, 24 of them have been sewn on the effigy bodies. This means 20 more to go, unless I add in the ones around the waistline, which are marked and can be done. But... Still working oh, so, slowly on hand sewing the binding. At least now I am on the inside portion. I think one to two more nights should finish this... before I start on the eyelets ( Read more... )

While the straight parts was being done by machine, I found that the reeds don't flex enough, and I am having space in machine issues, to try and sew the binding by machine, so I am slowly doing so by hand. It is taking awhile. And I am having to snip out the machined section to redo it all by hand, as the hand done areas look a lot better, ( Read more... )

Well, while we watched Smallville, and two episodes of CSI (last week's and tonights), I also got the back seams hand sewn on the effigy bodies.

I am slowly working on hand sewing with whip stitch one of the back seams. My hand hurts from the work, as I am pulling the needle through three layers. I think I will pull out an even smaller needle and see if that works. Normally I use a 10 Sharp, but I think I have an 11 Millinery I can use. Well, I don't think I will be finishing my loose gown sleeves before the weekend. I am being slow about things, wanting to do them right. I just finished hand sewing some trim to the armband, and that took the last two nights. I've got too much to do before Saturday, so I will just do what I can as I can, and maybe finish this in time for 12th ( Read more... )
