Handsewing, trying to relax

Jan 22, 2009 20:57

I am slowly working on hand sewing with whip stitch one of the back seams. My hand hurts from the work, as I am pulling the needle through three layers. I think I will pull out an even smaller needle and see if that works. Normally I use a 10 Sharp, but I think I have an 11 Millinery I can use. I do like the curve on the shoulder area, but it is ( Read more... )

I totally feel your pain on Relle not wanting to eat. I went through it with all of mine, but after the 1st and heading into the 2nd I had a chat with our Ped about it, and his advice helped a LOT.

His opinion was not to force it (that makes for bad food relationships later). If they don't want to eat what's offered, fine, but they get no other offerings (you must be strict on that one) and when mealtime is done, so are they, reguardless (as in, no asking for food 30 minutes after everyone else is done). Just make no big fuss about any of it, act like its just another normal occurance.

Kids are smarter than we give them credit for, and they clue in really quick. Relle is obviously healthy, and missing a dinner or two won't hurt her (and she won't starve even if she's acting like it) - it'll honestly be harder on you not to cave, etc. *hugs!*

Good luck either way, just remember (like all phases with kids - and things they swallow) This too shall pass.. ;)

Thank you for sharing what your Ped told you. I read your comment to my husband, and we both thought it worth giving it a try. I know I don't want my children to have food issues, but it will take some retraining of ourselves, and our friends who help us with the kids. We are already strict about the no other stuff after a major meal (especially no treats if they don't eat their dinner), but I am also thinking she is a grazer, as she is eating a lot through the day, so that might be why she isn't so hungry at dinnertime. I am amazed at times just how much she can eat on her own, but she burns it off so I am not worried much about her weight. And it comes and goes, so I think it matches up with growth spurts.

And all things will indeed pass.

There are days I miss having little children, and then...;-P

They really won't starve, just stick to your guns... I know, makes you feel like Horrible Mean Mommie...she'll get past the No Food and get housebroken (it's always the poo. Why is it always the poo?) and everything!

Thank you. There are times when I wonder why I decided to have babies again so late in my "game", but I so wanted them, even as they were wonderful surprises.

And yeah, poo... I will be happy when this part of training is finally done and dealt with.
