Round 6 (winter): Snowe
[ sim credits] Last time: Thierry was settling in to his dad role (despite a sudden decrease in Thierry-facedness); Eustacia sneaked out and got caught; Yves grew up a little pudding-y; and Lucy and Virginia kept respective businesses. Now, the winter...
The adults in the house start off the season in character: Thierry working on being a Family sim; Virginia with her 9 Neat points happily cleaning away; and Lucy, the Knowledge sim, flitting from one skill to the next. She's just a few Cooking and Logic points shy of her LTW of maxing out 7 skills.
Eustacia and Yves wake up every morning at 6 and roll wants to go jogging before school. It's disgusting.
Yves also has a new haircut now and looks 80% less pudding-y.
And thank goodness, because the teen years can be so trying when it comes to being happy with one's physical appearance.
At the garage, Lucy still hasn't finished her first car. It may be awhile before anyone in Ste-Margo is driving anywhere. But the groceries are selling really well.
After school, Yves has Beatrice Sweet over for a date.
Y: "So, you wanna come in and... check out my stamp collection?"
B: "Heh, innuendo! (... We are talking about make-y-out-y time, right? I'm assuming.)"
Heck yes! Yves goes in for his first kiss with no prompting from me-cute!
That Bea, she seems like a fun time, doesn't she?
O.o Also unprompted; slightly less cute...
Yves: "And then we did it! In your bed!"
Thierry: "I AM OK WITH THIS!"
Beatrice: *drooling*

Since Ste-Margo continues to have a serious problem with nighttime home invasion, Virginia tends to stay up late painting after everyone else has gone to bed. She's artistic, you know?
Virginia: "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
Every morning.
Little Geraldine is decidedly less chipper.
G: [to oatmeal] ... Wipe that smile right off your face, I will. Stupid... oats.
Eustacia: *daydreaming about older men*
Geraldine: "That was the BEST. BATH. EVERRRRRR!"
Virginia and Lucy used to keep a pretty busy social calendar back in Sim City-fabulous parties, gallery openings, the newest clubs. Lucy has welcomed the mental space small-town living affords her to work on perfecting all of her skills, but Virginia...
Well, she was very happy to be able to open her wonderful art space on Main Street (she never would've been able to swing the real estate in Sim City), and she has so much time to paint.
Meeting Thierry was an unexpected bonus, and of course she loves her children.
And the other townspeople are delightful. It's just...
She gets by, day to day, satisfying her grilled cheese wants, and that keeps her spirits up. But she's starting to feel a little... restless. So one night, after everyone else has gone to bed, instead of grabbing her palette, she digs out her old party clothes.
And a blonde wig.
She wants to meet someone new-she wants to be someone new-and what better place for both than the town's most popular (/only) watering hole.
She feels elegant and mysterious. It's thrilling.
But this is a small town, after all, and no one is out at 3AM on a weeknight. The wig starts to feel a little silly and the dress a little too vampy, and she ends up returning home after one drink.
[Note: I wanted her to have more of an adventure on her night out, but I ran into my townie explosion and got freaked out, so she had to go home almost immediately. Next time!]
Back at home, Virginia's family isn't quite as asleep as she'd thought.
Eustacia makes it back without a hitch this time. Her mom, distracted for some reason, doesn't even notice when she slinks by to get to her bedroom. A wild night for the Snowe-Morceau women.
Lucy, on the other hand, gets her thrills in printed form.
After her morning grilled cheese, Virginia feels restored. For now.
She even follows Thierry outside for his daily pajama gardening, though she's not much help with the crops.
Virginia: "Oh look! Here, I'm helping-SIIIKE! Hahahahahahahaha!"
Time for Eustacia to grow up!
Young adult!Eustacia chopped off all her hair.
Everyone thinks she's going for Twiggy when she's really trying for Jean Seberg.
Eustacia: No one in this town understands me!
She really is turning out to be her mother's daughter...
It's around this time that Eustacia decides she'd like to try some new roommates for her first semester at SMCC.
As soon as she leaves, Thierry gets a jump start on his empty nest syndrome and decides he wants to get a pet. Which works out perfectly since Yves's LTW is to raise 20 puppies or kittens.
Meet Cupcake.
Puppies are cute.
OK, so Thierry has always been one of my less favorite sims to play. He gardens and makes Thierry babies and rolls a lot of nature wants. I frequently send him off to hike or birdwatch or stargaze just to get him out of the way. He's not the most compelling sim for me, is what I'm saying. So what happens next is met with mixed emotions...
First satellite death I've ever seen. One minute, he was chillin' on the front lawn, and the next-boom.
It definitely shakes things up for next time.
Poor family. So heartbroken...
Yves: "So, anyone up for some sack?"
Y: "Ehhh?"
Oh geez. And now they're almost literally dancing on the man's grave. It's downright unseemly!
Later, though, Yves takes a moment to cry behind the house where no one can see him. :(
They move his headstone underneath the orchard he so lovingly tended and decorate his grave with one of the wildflower bouquets he made.
Annnnd now they head into spring with a satellite decorating their lawn?
Notes: I think I mentioned before that this round was one of those ones that wasn't super fun when I was playing it, which is part of why I skipped over to the asylum first (the remaining 3 days of which are on the way). Things sure got interesting pretty fast at the end there, though, didn't they? I guess now Virginia won't have to suppress her Romance sim instincts anymore. Thierry, you'll be missed. Maybe not as much as Marty's pudge, but still.
Also, I got annoyed with the shininess of Thierry's (and Yves's and Eustacia's) skin with this update but was not looking forward to editing all those texture files. Then I had the idea to use a more matte skin in a similar tone as a base and just make a face mask to layer on some of the features from the old skin they were missing-I'm a genius! So you can look forward to that next time, too.
