Round 3 (Spring): Snowe

Previously, baby Yves grew into another Thierry clone, Eustacia had her first day of school, Lucy was working on her first novel, and Thierry and Virginia got married in the back yard. I have the hack that let you choose what last name the couple will have, but while I was trying to decide, it chose for me, so now Virginia and Thierry are both Morceaus (Morceaux?) while Lucy and the kids are Snowes... We'll decide if that's a problem next generation.

Aw. Well, here comes the stinker anyway!

At least now you can force your family to read it, right, Luce?

Before I had a camera mod, I'd never zoomed in to look at things like the homework notebooks. They're so cute!

Birthday time for Yves! It's a day or so early, but he's got all his toddler skills, and there are no more food points in the fridge for baby bottles, so. Ta-da!

Thierry's like, "Well, that was awesome, gotta bounce!" Thierry, your son hasn't grown up yet!

"LOL Wut?"

In addition to inheriting his mother's extreme cleanliness, Yves has 9 Active points, which means he tends to zip around the house at super speed! He also has 3 Outgoing, 3 Playful, and 7 Nice; so slightly more outgoing than his sister, but not quite as nice-- although, take note of Eustacia's face in that last picture. Do I detect a hint of quiet sibling jealousy there? Whatever it is, something's brewing because this is what she does next:

She destroys his birthday cake. And she was hungry, too. Eustacia! Not nice! And you have 10 Nice points! Honestly, now.

Meanwhile, Virginia goes after Thierry in the bathroom and chastises him for skipping out on his son's moment of transformation.

Yves rolled a want for a video game, which is something I never put in sim houses for some reason; but in celebration of his birthday and electricity in Ste-Margo, I let him have one. Not that he seems to care. He plays for literally 30 seconds and then decides he'd rather bake a muffin. Because he's hungry. Because his sister destroyed his cake. And now she's playing with his birthday present. Eustacia.

Ever have a dream about someone you know and then feel funny when you see them the next day? As if somehow they can tell? That's what I imagine Lucy is experiencing here.

To make room for Yves to have a homework desk, the old fireplace gets knocked down. It had been part of the charm that first attracted the Snowe girls to this house, but it wasn't really appropriate or safe for the kids' room (hint: this becomes especially clear later on!).

They are not twins, but with Thierry's extremely dominant genetics, they might as well be.

Virginia: "Have I told/ you lately/ that I love cheese?"
Lucy: *unmoved by even her best Rod Stewart impersonation*

Lucy: "If I've told you once, I've told you a million times: the Andy Williams cover is SO. MUCH. BETTER."

And so the sisters' longstanding Rod Stewart vs. Andy Williams feud continues.

Thierry, on the other hand, loves Rod Stewart and grilled cheese, almost as much as he loves his wife.

Virginia: "Thank youOHBYTHEWAY, also I'm pregnant."
This pregnancy was mostly just one last attempt to see if some of Virginia's genetics could sneak past Thierry's. (Spoiler: no.)

Thierry is a plant whisperer now, so he bought three more fruit trees to talk to.

With her novel done, Lucy is focusing on the fitness segment of her Max 7 Skills program and decides to try out a yoga class at Milo's new place.

She's there a little early, but it gives her time to catch up with her best friend Frida over tea. (Check out the soles of Frida's shoes! Fancy.) (Also, I love how you can see how the town is growing in pictures like this with the Batavus house and canal in the background.)

Yoga class. Lucy's obviously never heard the one about when pride goeth.

D'oh.

Milo tries not to smile as he works out the kinks in her bruised ego.

Back at the house, both kids bring home friends from school! Yay!

Eustacia and Wim Batavus have been buddies for a while now, but there's no proto-romance budding since he's saved for Ramona Sweet, at least in my mind.

And maybe not just my mind, since Ramona's brother Arlo tries to break Wim and Eustacia up just about every chance he gets.

When Lucy gets home, she cuddles with her niece on the couch, which I didn't even know was possible but AAAAAA it is so cute!

In business news, Virginia purchases a gallery on Main Street (an unfinished preview of which you can see here), but with a baby on the way now, she isn't planning on setting it up until later in the summer. Lucy has no such impediments and gets a building of her own for her garage right away:

It's just a small lot on the end of Main Street, across from the fish market, with a little store attached for selling fresh produce since I wanted to be able to send my playables out to buy food. The truck out front sells "regular" food like the grocery bins do, but let's just say it comes from their garden. Plus, the truck looks like the one Lucy's been working on in the backyard, so we'll say it is that truck, loaded up with things from their garden and driven out to the garage.

I don't know if there are official BaCC rules about this, but for Ste-Margo, cars are unlocked once Lucy finishes restoring this one. She'll have the cars she works on for sale, and she can be the one who imports other models if someone wants to order something different.

With Lucy and Thierry at the garage and both kids at school, Virginia has the house to herself. Just her, her pajammies, and her grilled cheese.

Eustacia: "Yaaaahhh! Woohoooo! Maaaooom! Yeeeooorrh!" *report card noises*
Virginia: [speech bubble] "That's super, honey!"
Virginia: [thought bubble] "So much for quiet."

Since the kids were always bringing friends home from school, I thought it would nice for them to have something to play on; so they get a treehouse. This decision will nearly cost Yves his life (hint!).

(Ramona!)

Baby time.
Thierry: *shrugs* "If you say so..."

It's a girl! Welcome Geraldine Morceau to the family! Guess who she looks like?

Sigh. I was able to change Thierry's recessive genes to have red hair, so after a few tries, I was able to get a redheaded baby at least. But the eye/skin combo is unshakeable. Somehow Thierry's eyes and face are connected, since when I used sim surgery to try to give the baby Virginia's eyes, the baby had her eyes but also her white face and then Thierry's skin on her body. Then when I tried to give her Virginia's skin, the baby had Thierry's eyes and face but Virginia's skin on her body. Like a Thierry mask. It's weird and annoying and I don't get it! I tried making babies using Thierry and Virginia in CAS, and they do produce different facial sculpts, but the eye/face combo still keeps them looking very similar. Oh well.

Anyway, Geraldine! I got a breastfeeding mod, and the animation is totally adorable. She just kind of sways from side to side the whole time:

Aww. I don't hate you, Geraldine.

Remember my hints from before?

Yves is playing in the treehouse when it starts to rain, and a lightning bolt sets the tree on fire.
Self, watching game: "...This can't be good."

Get out of there, Yves!

(Around here is where I really start to worry.)

And after all that, he doesn't even need a shower. It was kind of horrible, though. He was crying the whole time, and there was nothing I could do to help. Thierry was over at the produce stand, and I tried to send him over with an extinguisher, but he never came. Meanwhile, the crying!  D:  Terrible! But he was totally unperturbed in the end.

And business carries on as usual.

To close, I'll leave you with the events of the last night of spring, presented without comment:
