When we last saw the Sweet family, the twins
were twinsy; Beatrice
started school;
Tabitha was beginning to think she needed a change; and
the bakery re-opened on Main Street.
Andraste: "Why, I'm just delighted to be writing my fourth review of your fine establishment! My editors haven't noticed, and I get paid every time!"
"... And the clientele is so... expressive!"
Gemma: "Cash registers-- how do they work?"
Charlie swoops in with his gold register badge, but not before Mr. Garden Club Makes Out in Public Man starts to get a bit riled up.
Make-Out Partner Townie: *is still happy about making out*
Gemma: ^u^ (*also thinking about making out now*)
(I love homework faces!)
"Hrm."
"HONH?"
After homework (which they both rolled wants to do!), Ramona takes it upon herself to engage in a small experiment with classmate Yves.
Step 1: Lure subject into home.
Step 2: Approach the subject. He suspects nothing!
Step 3: Distract subject with congenial smile.
Step 4: Initiate procedure!
Step 5: Observe results!
Step 6: Briefly feign shock (no pun intended).
Step 7 (optional): Celebratory giggle.
Step 8: Report findings to colleague.
(Arlo's just jealous he didn't get to perform the experiment himself.) Honestly, you'd never know both the twins have 10 Nice points. Ramona chose to shock Yves entirely on her own, which I've never seen a sim do before. Maybe it has something to do with their having 3 Outgoing points? They're both super nice, but mostly only with each other? Twins! What're you gonna do?
So, remember the dean that the town hired to run Ste-Margo Community College? At the uni fund drive, Charlie recommended his father-in-law,
Maximillian Sweet, who was a professor back in Sudden Valley.
While Maximillian had initially decided to go into retirement rather than come to the new town with his daughters, he'd been having second thoughts since his grandchildren were born. The opening of a position at SMCC provided the perfect opportunity for him to finally join his family in Ste-Margo.
Now we know where Gemma got her ^u^ face!
Oh, child twins, I shall miss you.
And with their birthdays, so began
my quest to rehabilitate the Sweet family genetics.
Arlo. It's hard to tell from these pictures, but this skin got super photoskin-y with stubble and wrinkles and painted-on lips and eyebrows-- ugh.
And Ramona. Wonky eyes and lips, unblended neck and scary ears...
... plus black-pit eyes.
And yet, the cuteness.
"Why me?"
(Don't worry, darling, I'll save you!)
But first, a little (attempted) romance...
There we go.
I was going to say, doesn't it seem like just yesterday that these two were
little kids dancing in Wim's yard, but then I remembered I never posted that picture. But they were!
And now, new Arlo!
He's turned out to be rather foxy, which I never would've guessed.
And who could believe that
this would turn into this:
Crazy, right?
Fitness twins!
Still getting laughs at Yves' expense, while Marian jogs by in fishnets and ballet slippers.
Gemma: "I just can't get over how much better we all look with our new eyes and faces! I'm positively glowing with joy."
Ramona: "Ho-ho ho, right you are, Mother!"
Beatrice: "My teeth are still gappy, because it's cute, but otherwise I'd agree!"
Arlo: "Truly, it feels amazing to no longer be cursed with the wrinkles, pores, and five o'clock shadow of a much older man!"
Ramona: "If only Father were still alive today to enjoy it together with us..."
(j/k, Charlie's fine!)
See? The bakery, though it's only Rank 4, is doing brisk business, and it's becoming a struggle for Gemma to keep up with the demand. Ramona and Arlo are game to help out, but the kitchen gets crowded pretty quickly with six people at home.
So, Tabitha decides it's finally time to strike out on her own. Now that the twins are old enough to look after themselves, she feels like she's getting in the way more than anything. And it's just time.
After she leaves, her little cottage gets transformed (for now, at least) into a prep kitchen for the bakery, funded by the latest business reward, which added §20,000 to the family coffers.
Ramona's LTW (romance/family-- yikes) is to become a celebrity chef, so this is perfect training for her; and Arlo rolled grilled cheese as his secondary aspiration (1st=family), so he also has a built-in interest in food.
Hiking twins! (Arlo's outwear was part of my Christmas in July gift from mellyrae, which I've been meaning to share for too long.) Winter is on its way, but after a genetically bumpy fall, the Sweet family's future is looking bright!
