Week 1: The Sweet Household

Jun 06, 2011 21:55

[Note: My BaCC had a few fits and starts before it got to its current iteration, so the Sweets' first week is slightly inconsistent (one male settler since townified, Batavus family not yet arrived despite being founders!). This was also before I figured out screenshots, so these are just in-game camera pics. But some important things happened, so I thought I'd show you anyway. Also, I forgot the founder is supposed to go first, so after this week, the rota will change.]

Some of the new neighbors showed up on Day 1, and straightaway, they started up a game of kicky bag with the paper girl. These sims are still clinging to their college days a bit.

Meanwhile, Gemma and Charlie decided to cuddle in the grass, where Gemma discusses her interest in bathtubs.

She's really into bathtubs.

Charlie said she'd convinced him of the overwhelming awesomeness of bathtubs.

Which made Gemma really happy!

Charlie, you are so in!

Having reached accord on the topic of bathtubs, they then moved on to other water-containing vessels.

Back at kicky bag, Virginia is just about as thrilled with the fortune teller's arrival as I am.

After a light dinner, Gemma started preparing for their bakery's opening, and Tabitha set herself to the task of making a squillion green potholders. No one in Ste-Margo need ever burn his or her hands on a pot again.

The next morning, Gemma faced her first day as a business owner with a bit of trepidation.

But before she knew it, she'd made her first Simoleon, and as a bonus, Charlie came by as a surprise to show his support.

That gesture made a big impression on Gemma, and she decided to surprise him right back!

And the surprises didn't stop there...

So, they got married a little bit ahead of schedule. Mostly because Gemma wanted to be able to fit into the dress she'd picked out.

On top of the stress of having to plan an impromptu wedding while in her first trimester, after the ceremony, Gemma's guests spent the entire time yelling about old newspapers hidden under the coffee table. It was really starting to wear on her by the end of the day.

And after a restful night in bed with her new husband, she was hungry enough for two breakfasts. There was a lot of news to discuss anyway.

Between eating all of Gemma's bakery do-overs and having sympathy pregnancy symptoms, Tabitha had gone up a few dress sizes. So she decided to take up jump roping.

Part of this old farmhouse's charm lies in its lack of modern conveniences. The bathtub is in the kitchen, and the sink is in the garden.

Some better shots of the house:

(The little backdoor area is my favorite.)

(That record player has been broken for years, so it doesn't even matter that there's no electricity.)

This is one of my favorite houses that I've made. I usually download lots to use as a starting point for renovation, but this time I built it from the ground up. The lack of electricity/primitive plumbing in the challenge opened up the idea of moving into a dilapidated farmhouse setting and steered me away from my general tendencies toward mid-century modern all the time, which has been really fun. I hope you like it, too!
