YOOCHUN
“Thank you.”
Junsu went to the kitchen to get a glass of water for the both of us.
“Look at us with our eyes all red because of all the crying we did.” Junsu tried to joke handing me a glass of water. “Makes me wonder what people would’ve thought of us had we been outside.”
“Probably that we’re a couple who’ve had an argument that had just made up.” I chuckled before downing half the contents of the glass before handing it back to Junsu.
“Don’t you think it would’ve been weird for people to see two guys crying together?” Junsu asked finishing the glass of water.
“Friends.” I said. “They’d probably think that we’re friends who’d gone through something together and ended up crying together.”
“It’s nice… to be able to share the same feeling.” I continued. “To be able to laugh and cry like this together… Apart from Changmin, I honestly didn’t think that I would meet someone like you, Junsu.”
“I’m glad I met you, Junsu.”
I flushed like a fire engine, but I kept my eyes on Junsu a shy smile after my sudden confession.
“Thanks for today, Yoochun.” Junsu said returning my smile with his own. “I feel like I have to do something to repay you…”
“You don’t have to do that.” I said shaking my head. “But a kiss would be nice.”
I thought I was burning. My face felt hot and I couldn’t look Junsu in the eye after that bold statement. I jumped when I felt something touch my cheek. My eyes automatically looked up.
All I could see was Junsu’s face, right in front of mine, his eyes boring into me. He smiled and I felt myself mirroring him as I leaned into his touch. We looked into each other’s eyes for what felt like a long time.
Then Junsu leaned forward and then we were kissing.

Interlude: CHANGMIN
“Are you really okay with leaving those two alone?” I asked curiously.
“Mmm…” Yunho nodded. “Unlike Junsu, I know that I’ll only be a friend to Yoochun.”
“I never knew you give up so easily, Jung Yunho.” I frowned at him. “This isn’t like you.”
Yunho just looked at me and smirked.
“Who ever said I gave up?” Yunho asked.
I looked at him without blinking until he sighed and averted his eyes.
“It’s not that you gave up.” I said. “It’s because you’d do anything for Junsu. Also, everyone, except for the two of them for some inexplicable reason, can see that those two are drawn to each other.”
“There’s something special between those two.” Yunho mumbled. “I can feel it. Even if I stand my ground and fight against Junsu to win Yoochun’s heart, I’ll lose.”
“Why’d you invite me to go with you that day?” I asked changing the subject.
“Huh?” Yunho asked.
“That day.” I said. “Junsu’s brother’s anniversary. Why’d you ask me to come with you?”
“Oh.” Yunho said looking away.
“Junsu’s older brother was your lover.” I stated. “I could see that you loved him very deeply. You still do.”
“I do.” Yunho echoed. “And that love will remain a part of me until the day I die.” He looked at me. “Seeing Junsu start to go back to his old self, for him to start things with Yoochun, even if it was unintentional at first because he’d always been curious and he refuses to be ignored by anyone… for him to willingly take responsibility for Yoochun’s safety… Junsu’s finally opening himself up again. It’s given me the chance to finally think that I can have a new beginning too.”
“It’s what Jaejoong would have wanted for me too.” Yunho smiled sadly at me. “He would’ve loved you had you two had the chance to meet.” He chuckled. “Jaejoong likes taking care of people. At least those he deems that needs his care.”
“How was he like?” I found myself asking. “You mentioned he liked to cook and he played the piano too, just like Yoochun.”
“Jae was… beautiful.” Yunho answered. “I have no other words to describe him because he is just that. Beautiful. Jae is a person who likes to take care of those around him. His heart is big and he loves with his whole being. He’s the most loving, caring yet brattiest person I know.”
“Bratty huh?” I asked with a smirk.
“Trust you to latch on to that last bit.” Yunho smirked back. “You two are very similar, now that I think about it.”
I arched an eyebrow at him.
“Even though you’re younger, you’ve been playing the role of older brother to Yoochun.” Yunho answered my silent question. “You’ve been doing your best to protect Yoochun because you don’t want him to get hurt. Not again. Because you love him very much.”
“You’re just like Jaejoong.” Yunho smiled.
I stared back at Yunho at a loss for words. There was warmth and understanding and sincerity in his eyes that I found and felt myself flushing. I forced myself to look away, embarrassed at how easily he just read me.
“If… If Junsu and Yoochun go their separate ways, you’ll have your chance.” I said opting to change our topic of conversation. “I know you still like Yoochun.”
“Like I said, even if I stand my ground and fight for Yoochun, I won’t win.” Yunho answered. “There’s no point. Besides, I’m not that cruel. What about you?”
“What about me?” I asked.
“I’m usually good at reading people and I felt so stupid for not noticing it earlier. I guess I was focused on Yoochun and Junsu too much to notice you. You were always there with Yoochun, being his closest friend. You, who dropped everything to run to Yoochun to help in any way you can. You, who silently observed everything from the sidelines and only stepped forward when it was necessary. I know now because I’ve done some observing of my own.” Yunho answered and then smiled. “You like me.”
I probably looked like a tomato after hearing Yunho’s words. I’m internally kicking myself for being so affected by his words, his eyes, his smile. I shouldn’t have opened our current subject of conversation at all.
I jumped at the sudden touch on my cheek. The touch was gentle, Yunho’s fingers caressing my skin sending tingles up and down my spine.
“You’re beautiful too, Min-ah.” Yunho murmured.
“What - How?” I stammered looking right at him trying to find any sign of a lie. I found none.
“You’re cute too.” Yunho suddenly blurted out. He took his hand back and avoided my eyes, blushing. “The way you just become snarky like it’s the most natural thing to do. The way you always get defensive whenever Yoochun is concerned. The way you instinctively put yourself just in front or behind Yoochun when both of you are walking together. Even the way you enjoy food.”
“It’s… adorable.”
“Flattery won’t get you anywhere.” I managed to say.
“I know.” Yunho chuckled. “I’m just stating facts.”

JUNSU
I smiled listening to the scream of my motorbike’s engine as I twisted the throttle. I wove my way through several vehicles on the road when I spotted a familiar figure walking on the sidewalk. My smile widened as I guided my bike to a smooth stop just before Yoochun reached the pedestrian lane to cross.
“Hey,” I greeted. “I just got my bike back and I feel like taking a long ride. Wanna come with me?”
When Yoochun nodded the affirmative, I handed him my spare helmet and waited for him to secure himself behind me. Once his arms were around me, I put my hand on top of his and gave him a squeeze, silently telling him to hold tight.
“Where are we going?” Yoochun asked.
“It’s a surprise.” I answered as I revved the bike and we got back on the road.
~
I stretched and breathed in deep. I was seated comfortably on the sand a few meters from the shore with Yoochun right beside me. I watched him, his hair flying away from his face as the wind blew from the ocean. He was watching the waves roll and crash on the shore, knees drawn up to his chin, arms loosely crossed above his feet.
“Penny for your thoughts?” I asked.
“Just thinking.” Yoochun said turning to me. “The future… I was wondering what our futures will be like.”
“You’ll be a famous soccer player or maybe a racer since you always ride your bike.” Yoochun continued. “Yunho and Changmin will probably become talented lawyers. And me…”
“A composer.” I said. “You’ll be an amazing composer.”
“I’m not that talented.” Yoochun mumbles. “It’d be nice though, if I could become one. There are lots of other people out there that are more skilled and talented than me.”
“You’re one of those skilled and talented people, Yoochun.” I said frowning. “Why do you have no confidence in your own talent? Yunho was right. You need to be more positive about yourself.”
Yoochun said nothing. He looked away with a sigh.
“Let’s go back, Su.” Yoochun said as he got up and walked towards my bike.
