YOOCHUN
“Hey, who’s that girl at the university entrance?”
“Isn’t she the one who bought Junsu for $2,000?”
“Why is she here?”
“It seems she’s taken a liking to Kim Junsu.”
“She looks like a little princess.”
Taeyeon stood by the gates of the school with her small smile. Surprisingly, Heechul wasn’t with her. I knew who she was waiting for.
“What is she doing here?” Changmin asked.
“Waiting for Junsu, I guess.” I answered.
“Obviously.” Changmin scoffed. “I thought you said they were over?”
“They are.” I replied. “She’s just being stubborn.”
“What’s a pretty girl like you doing here?”
“Are you here for Kim Junsu?”
“Aren’t you a stepping over the line? Kim Junsu’s got a boyfriend now. You just want to stir up some trouble.”
Whoever had said that had the crowd abruptly halting all conversation. Taeyeon just smiled and looked at each one with confidence.
“I’m not here to stir up trouble. I’m just here to see Junsu, that’s all.” Taeyeon said. “Is that going to be a problem?” She asked sweetly. “I find it amusing that you’re all getting worked up just because I’m paying Junsu a visit.” She giggled. “Are things not going well between the both of them just because I showed up at you school fair?”
Maybe she timed it perfectly as Changmin and I were passing by, but Taeyeon had looked right at me as she said those words. Her face didn’t betray any of the animosity I felt from her, but her eyes were certainly glinting. I breathed in deeply and tried to muster up the confidence to speak.
“What Junsu and I have going on is none of your business, Taeyeon-sshi.” I said thankful that my voice was steady. “If you want to see Junsu that badly, I have no problems with it. You are his friend and I won’t begrudge you that.” I added as I ran a hand through my hair.
I saw Taeyeon’s eyes flash and then suddenly, she had my wrist in a tight grip. I hadn’t noticed that she’d pushed her way through the people in front of her to get to me.
“Take this off.” Taeyeon demanded. “Why are you wearing this? This is Junsu’s!”
Shocked would have been the perfect word to describe my reaction to Taeyeon’s sudden demand. I didn’t understand why she had suddenly acted the way she did until my eyes landed on my own wrist still tightly gripped in hers.
Junsu’s bracelet.
“No.” I said defiantly.
“I said take it off!” Taeyeon yelled. She pulled my wrist, bending it awkwardly that had me wincing in pain.
“Take your hands off her.” Changmin said putting his own hand on top of hers.
“NO!” Taeyeon yelled again. “I TOLD YOU TO TAKE IT OFF! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE MINE! TAKE IT OFF!”
“Stop it!” I said yanking my wrist free from her grip.
The force of my freeing myself made Taeyeon unbalanced and she fell. I stared at her in horror, an apology on the tip of my tongue.
“Don’t.” Changmin said looking at me.
“I’m sorry.” I said ignoring Changmin. “I didn’t mean to…”
“You did that on purpose!” Taeyeon said glaring at me as she got to her feet. “What kind of man are you stooping to such a level that you’d even bully a woman? You should be ashamed of yourself for acting this way!” she accused.
Slap.
Kim Junsu. I hadn’t noticed that he was there.
When had he arrived? Why didn’t I notice?
Taeyeon had a hand cupped to her cheek which was slightly pink. Her eyes were wide with shock as she stared up at Junsu.
“Enough, Taeyeon.” Junsu said. “Go home. Don’t ever come back here.”
“But Jun - ” Taeyeon started.
“Let’s go, Yoochun.” Junsu said as he took my hand. “We’re going to be late for class.”
“Junsu…” I started looking back at Taeyeon. “Shouldn’t you - ?”
“It’s okay.” Junsu replied without looking back. “Just let her go.”
I watched as Taeyeon walked out of the school gates in a daze. She stumbled onto the sidewalk but still continued on her way.
“Junsu!” I stopped pulling Junsu back. “Taeyeon is - ”
I didn’t get to finish what I was going to say because Junsu was already running towards Taeyeon’s frozen figure on the street. I watched as Junsu jumped and pushed Taeyeon out of harm’s way just before a van passed by where Taeyeon had been standing. I didn’t see where Junsu and Taeyeon were because of all the vehicles passing by.
Taeyeon had tried to cross the street while the traffic lights were still green.
I ran up to the pedestrian lane waited for the lights to turn red. Junsu lay on his side as he cradled Taeyeon’s body in his arms. Taeyeon was crying and clutching at Junsu’s shirt.
“What a stupid thing to do!” Junsu scolded. “Did you really want to die just because I don’t have feelings for you anymore?”
“I’d rather die.” Taeyeon replied. “I’d rather be out of my misery watching you with someone else.”
I approached Junsu as he sat Taeyeon and himself up. Taeyeon seemed free of injuries.
“Junsu, are you okay?” I asked.
“She’s okay.” Junsu answered.
“Not her. You.” I said. “You’re bleeding.” I added as I looked at his wounded hand.

Taeyeon and I sat in the waiting area of the emergency room at the hospital. One of the people who witnessed Junsu saving Taeyeon from getting hit by a vehicle had called for an ambulance.
“You must think so badly of me. You must wish I’d never shown up here.” Taeyeon mumbled, looking at her lap. “But you don’t know what we’ve been through. What I’ve been going through these past years without Junsu.”
“I’ve been waiting for so long, waiting all this time just to be with Junsu again.” Taeyeon said as she looked right at me. “I’ve been tirelessly searching for him and dreaming of the day when we meet again, long before you even knew of him.”
“If only Jaejoong-oppa hadn’t died that day…” Taeyeon cried. “Junsu and I would have never split up.”
I watched helpless as tears ran down Taeyeon’s cheeks.
“Please give Junsu back to me.” Taeyeon begged. “Give him back.”
I just looked at Taeyeon and all I feel is pity.
“That’s not a decision for me to make.” I said making sure I look directly at her. “I’m not holding him back. I’m with him because I love him.”
“You’re saying that it’s okay for me to love Junsu?” Taeyeon scoffed. “Is it really alright with you if I see Junsu again?”
“I don’t have the right to be.” I answered. “That’s Junsu’s decision.”
“You’re the same.” Taeyeon mused. “You and Jaejoong-oppa are similar somehow. I can see that now.”
Before I could reply the door opened and Junsu came out. Taeyeon’s words confused me.
“Taeyeon.” Junsu called. He looked at her tear-stained face and frowned.
“Junsu, are you okay?” I asked as I looked at his bandaged hand.
“Mmmm. It’s just a gash.” Junsu answered with a smile. “It just needed a couple of stitches.”
“Taeyeon!” Heechul said as he rushed to her side. “What the hell were you doing? I got a call from Yunho and he told me you got into an accident?”
“She’s alright, Chullie.” Junsu answered. “I’m okay too.” He added gesturing to his bandaged hand.
“I’m guessing you saved this foolish best friend of mine again?” Heechul asked. “Wait. You don’t need to answer that. I’ll take pay for your treatment as thanks, is that alright with you?” He looked at Taeyeon before helping her to her feet. “Come on, Tae. Let’s go.”
I watched slightly stunned as Heechul and Taeyeon left.
“Is he really like that?” I found myself asking suddenly.
“Yes, he is.” Junsu chuckled. “He hasn’t changed a bit.”
I lapsed into silence as Taeyeon’s words from earlier came back.
“Junsu,” I asked. “Am I similar to your brother, Jaejoong? Do I remind you of your brother?”
