Interlude: YUNHO
“This auction is going to be crazy.” I said as I looked out at all the people waiting for it begin. I winced at the sheer number of girls.
“They’re like an army.” Siwon said with a wince.
“More like rabid dogs to me.” Donghae said. “There is no backing out of this, is there?” he asked.
“No.” Yoochun answered. He looked a bit pale but he seemed okay.
I scoffed. The only one who was popular here was Junsu. Siwon if you count his immaculate grades and his position as the student council president.
I turned my attention to Yoochun.
“Hey, you okay?” I asked just to make sure.
Yoochun nods with a small smile.
“Hey, have any of you guys seen Junsu?” the class representative asked. “It’s almost time for the auction.”
“Yoochun and I will look for him.” I volunteered and nodded at Yoochun.
~
“What is that guy doing?!”
“He’s off his game.”
“He’ll never win at the rate he’s going.”
“For just $1 you can win great prizes!”
“Three in a row and you get a Nintendo DS! Four in a row and you get a Play Station Vita! Five in a row and you get a pair of platinum Cartier rings!”
I saw Junsu walk up to the game master with a determined look on his face. I had a pretty good idea what he’s got on his mind. Looking at Yoochun with a knowing smile, I gestured for him to follow me.
“Let’s go.” I said.
We watched as Junsu took a basketball in hand and walked towards the designated line. It was pretty much like a free throw shot and I smirked. I knew Junsu would sink five consecutive balls in with no problem.
“Here we have one of the university’s popular student athletes, Kim Junsu! How many baskets will he make? Will he get three in to win the Nintendo DS? Or four to get the Play Station Vita? Or will he shoot five consecutive baskets to get the grand prize?”
Junsu focused. He gripped the basketball with both hands as he dribbled it three times before posing to make a shot. And then another.
And then another.
The crowd gathered around us cheered as the ball went in for the third time.
“Hey he can get that Playstation Vita now!”
Everyone watched as Junsu gestured for the ball to be handed back to him.
“Is he seriously planning on winning those Cartier rings?”
“But who’s he giving the other ring to?”
“Oh, come on! We all know who he’s giving the other ring to!”
I chose that time to look at Yoochun and see what his reaction will be. The crowd cheered again as Junsu’s fourth ball went through the hoop.
“He really is planning to give you the ring, you know.” I leaned down to speak quietly in his ear.
Yoochun blushed just as Junsu shot his fifth basket. Everyone watched every eye focused on the ball going through the air towards the hoop. The moment it went through the net with a swishing sound the crowd exploded into cheers.
I caught Junsu’s eye and smiled at him. Then I directed that same smile towards Yoochun who was smiling back with a slightly flushed face.
