“Is Junsu alright?” I asked as I followed Yunho inside their apartment.
Yunho had told me earlier that Junsu had caught the flu and couldn’t come to class. He then invited me to come home with him so I could take care of Junsu because he was going to go out with Changmin.
“Yes he is.” Yunho answered staying by the door. “Go on in, it’s okay. I have to go meet Changmin now so I’ll leave him in your care.” He said as he patted my shoulder before letting himself out.
I sighed. Venturing inside, I peered into the semi-darkness and walked along the short hallway that led to their living room. A dining area with kitchen inset was to my right while another hallway led to the rooms. Discarding my things on a nearby armchair, I walked towards the rooms on the left, immediately discovering a bathroom on the first door to my left. I turned to my right and placed a hand on the doorknob, carefully opening the door to what will probably be either Yunho’s or Junsu’s room.
I found Junsu snuggled deep in his blanket.
“Su?” I murmured slightly bending over him.
“Hmmm?” Junsu mumbled opening slightly glazed eyes before focusing on me. “What’re you doin’ here?”
“Yunho said you were sick.” I answered. “Are you feeling any better?”
“Mmmm.” Junsu said. “I just feel tired and my whole body hurts and my head hurts too.”
Carefully, I placed my hand on his forehead, only to snatch it back.
“Su, you have a high fever.” I said concern lacing my voice.
“Huh. So that’s why everything feels fuzzy.” Junsu slurred before closing his eyes.
“That’s not good.” I said worried. “Do you have a thermometer? Any fever medication?” I asked.
“Bathroom.” Junsu mumbled turning on his side. “Don’t worry I’ll be fine after I sleep it off.”
“No.” I said as firmly as I could. “I’m going to go get your medicine.”
I all but ran out of his room and into the bathroom to check the medicine cabinet. I sighed in relief once I found the fever medication and took the bottle with me to the kitchen. I got ice and water in a bowl and found a small towel and got a glass of water and placed all of them on a tray with the medicine bottle and got back to Junsu’s room in record time.
Placing the things I got on Junsu’s bedside table, I sat on the edge of his bed. Coaxing Junsu to sit up, I dropped two pills on his hand with the glass of water at the ready.
After Junsu swallowed the medicine and drank some water, I helped him settle in bed again. This time, taking the towel, I drenched it in ice water squeezing the excess out before placing it on Junsu’s forehead.
“I’ll be fine by myself, Chun.” Junsu mumbled facing me. “Don’t worry about me and go home.” He added before falling back asleep.

JUNSU
I slowly came back to consciousness. I felt terrible. I can’t breathe through my nose and it feels like there’s wool stuffed in my ears and my throat is dry. I grabbed my head and groaned slowly sitting myself up. There’s a muffled clatter of sound and then my bed dips.
“Hey,” Yoochun said. “Do you feel better?” he asked placing his hand on my forehead to check my temperature. Oh, right. I have a fever. I remember.
“I’m okay.” I answered moaning a little at the cool feel of his hand on my skin. “Everything is less fuzzy now and no more pounding headache.” I added.
“Do you want something to eat?” Yoochun asked.
“No, not right now.” I answered still a little groggy. “Mmmm… that feels good.” I mumbled as I felt Yoochun’s hand gently carding through my hair.
~
When I opened my eyes, I immediately saw Yoochun’s sleeping face. I had fallen asleep to the feeling of Yoochun’s fingers running through my hair. I watched him breathe, as he slumbered on. I gently tucked away a stray hair from his face. He must’ve watched over me while I was sick and fell asleep in exhaustion.
Feeling immensely better, I got up, careful not to jostle Yoochun so he wouldn’t wake. Stepping up behind him, I scooped him into my arms, taking care not to move too much. Placing a sleeping Yoochun on my bed, I pulled up the covers and tucked him in.

“Junsu?”
I looked up from the book I was reading at the sound of Yoochun’s sleepy voice. Marking where I was before putting the book aside, I stood up and made my way back to my room.
“Hey, sleep head.” I greeted.
“I’m sorry.” Yoochun apologized. “You’re sick and I’m supposed to be looking after you.”
“It’s okay.” I said. “I’m fine now. Besides, it couldn’t have been comfortable sleeping the way you did earlier, so I put you in my bed.” I smiled as we walked out into the kitchen. “Take it as my thanks, for taking care of me when I was sick.”
“You’re welcome.” Yoochun smiled back. “Hungry? Want me to make you something? What would you like to eat?”
“What can you make?” I asked.
“Omurice.” Yoochun answered with a shy smile.
“Alright, let’s have that.” I said chuckling. “Should I help?” I asked.
“Could you beat the eggs?” Yoochun asked. “I’ll do the rest.”
I rummaged inside the fridge and found the ingredients Yoochun needed to make omurice. I also found a pack of hotdogs.
“Chun, can you cook these for me as well?” I asked handing him the pack of hotdogs. “Can you also make them into small octopuses?”
Yoochun laughed but nodded at my childish request. It’s been a while since I’ve last seen an octopus hotdog. Jae-hyung always made them for me when we were kids.
I smiled watching Yoochun cook.

I smiled to myself as I remembered watching Junsu eat the simple meal I had cooked for him. He’s like a child that got handed his favorite snack to eat. My smile fades a little as Junsu’s older brother comes to mind.
“Do you miss him?” I found myself asking suddenly. I clapped a hand over my mouth and looked at Junsu apologetically.
“Everyday.” Junsu answered with a sad smile. “Jae-hyung wasn’t only my brother, but my other best friend. He was always there for me, doing things for me be it cooking or cleaning or helping with my homework. He also always protected me and I tried to do my best to protect him in return.”
“I knew him better than anyone, because we were brothers, there were no secrets between us.” Junsu said. “After our parents died in that accident, all we had left was each other. At least until we met Yunho.”
“The three of us became a family. We were all happy and content. I honestly couldn’t ask for more.”
“Until that day.”
“I was supposed to get hit by that car. I was the one who was supposed to have died that day. But Jae-hyung had pushed me away.”
“I - I should’ve stood my ground and pushed back or something!”
“But my body didn’t listen to what my mind was screaming at it. Instead, I let Jae-hyung push me out of the way.”
“I watched helpless, as his body was hit by that car, as he landed in a crumpled bloody heap on the ground.”
“I couldn’t protect hyung.”
A tear slid down my face as I realized how much pain I felt from Junsu’s words. I knelt in front of him and reached out, hands automatically cradling his face.
“Junsu-yah,” I said. “It’s not your fault. Jaejoong-hyung’s death was an unfortunate accident. It’s not your fault.” I repeated, staring right into his eyes.
“Your brother did the only thing he could at that moment to protect you. It had cost him his life, but he wouldn’t have had it any other way.” I explained hands on my lap as I sat on my knees. “Jaejoong-hyung was your beloved older brother and he protected you from getting hurt because that’s what older brothers do.”
Junsu was crying.
“Su…”
“Don’t look!” Junsu said looking away and hastily wiping away his tears.
“Cry.” I said. “Don’t hold back and cry.”
“No matter how much I cry, nothing will change.” Junsu said bitterly. “My tears won’t bring Jae-hyung back. I can’t talk to him or be with him anymore or even ask for his forgiveness!”
I reach out to take Junsu in my arms, hugging him in a lose embrace.
“You don’t need to ask for forgiveness, Junsu-yah. No one blames you.” I murmured. “Jaejoong-hyung wouldn’t want you to apologise for something that wasn’t your fault.”
I felt Junsu’s breath hitch before his sobs filled their living room apartment. My tears couldn’t stop falling. I just hugged Junsu tighter.
