“Thanks, man. I’ll just stay till the situation calms down.” Warrick marched in carrying a backbag on his shoulder.

Greg closed the door and gave him a confused glance.
“Thanks for what, what situation and stay where?”
“You don’t mind me bunking on your couch?”
“No, but you got your own place. And this is Nicky`s apartment, not mine. Why can`t you just go to your place?”
“Try to guess the first thing I saw when I got out this morning.”
“Your lawyer?”

“That was before getting out. When I walked out there was a bunch of photographers taking pics. One of them actually asked me if I got a good bang in the slammer.”
“What does that mean?”
“No idea, I think he was Canadian or Cambodian or something like that.”
“Or British?”
“Maybe. There was some more guys camping in front of my building. I got some clothes and Mrs. Beemer handled the diversion so I could slip out.”
“What kinda diversion?”
“She held an impromptu press conference, claiming she was Elvis’s long lost sister, who had been kidnapped by the CIA, so they could set up her brother’s fake death. I got out through the fire escape.”

“I’ll get you some blankets and stuff when I get back. You’re not going to sleep for a while, right?”
“At half past one in the afternoon? Nope. Where are you going?”
“I got a production meeting, and I’ll pick Nick up from the gym after that.
“Production meeting?”
“Yeah, they’ve been negotiating to lease studio facilities for the production.”
“So we could go back to work soon?”

“If it goes well. All the sets and the wardrobe department got off easy, so it shouldn’t be much of a problem to set up everything somewhere else.”
“You’ll tell me if they say something about me?”
“Why would they talk about you?”
“I just spend a night in jail, that’s not exactly good publicity.”
“You weren’t even in a real jail, besides everyone’s still going on about the bombing. Maybe you could say it was the post-traumatic stress that made you get naked and drunk in the middle of a club.”

“That’s not a bad idea… Did you hear about the stuff before it?”
“With Danny? Yep. I’ve heard it, and I’m not getting involved in that mess.”

-----------------------------------------

“Babe?” Eric hollered from the door and walked in clutching two grocery bags against this chest. “Are you home?”

“Living room.”

“Okay.” He followed the voice. “I think I got all the stuff you wanted-”

He stopped when he heard the sound of crushing plastic under his shoe.

“What the hell are you doing?”
“Organising our CDs and DVDs, and take your shoes off.” Ryan placed a stack of CD cases to a separate pile and moved on to the next stack.
“Didn’t you do that couple days ago? And couple days before that?”
“Yeah, but I got bored. Few days off is nice, but when I don’t have anything to work on I go crazy.”
“And you start organising stuff.”

“Or cleaning, but I wore off the old mop and my back is too sore to start scrubbing the floor on my hands and knees.”
“You spent ages trying to get the wallpaper patters to match, no wonder you got a sore back.”
“It’s not the time, it’s that arching thing to reach the top of the wall.”

“Where do you want these?”
“Want what?”
“Groceries. You said you’d make that pork thingy, whatever you called it…”
“The Director’s Cut.”
“Sounds like a horror movie.”
“Just put them to the kitchen.”
“Yeah.” Eric eyed the stacks of discs. “How are you categorising them?”

“I can’t make up my mind. First I organised all CDs according to the artist, then according to the year of release, then colour of the cover… and then I decided to go back to organising them alphabetically.”
“And the DVDs?”
“First genre, then stars, then the studio, then colouring, then according to their gross profits-”
“Ryan?”
“Yeah?” Ryan looked up and blushed furiously. “Too much?”
“Yep. We gotta figure out some kinda hobby for you before you start knitting wool socks.”

“I know, I know… I want to get back to work, I’m going nuts.”
“I got an idea. You could direct your attention to one unfinished project that needs some attention, careful eye, tender hands-”
“If you want sex, ask for it like a big boy.”
“I was talking about food. You were supposed to cook when I come back.”

“I forgot that.” Ryan got up and grabbed the bags from Eric. “This should keep me occupied for at least two hours.”

-----------------------------------------

“I`m not kidding, he offered to spot me when I was bench pressing and all.” Nick stated when he stepped in. “I kept telling him no, but as soon as I was on the bench he was there with his crotch right next to my head. And he had leotards on, the kind that shows everything.”

“But somehow you managed to escape with your virtue intact.” Greg deadpanned. “Can we forget it now?”

“If that guy shows up next time, I’ll change gym-” Nick fell silent and listened carefully. “Did you hear that?”

“That’s just Warrick. He wanted to borrow the couch for a while.”
“Don goes, and Warrick arrives…” Nick headed to the living room. Greg leaned down to open his shoelaces, but a high pitched scream snapped him up again. He rushed to the living room, where Nick was staring at the two men on the couch. The Texan had gone white as a sheet.

“Nick, what-” Greg took a quick look at the scene. “Hey, Danny. When did you come in?”
“Greg!”
“Here. As in the apartment, Nicky. I was making a polite conversation between four adults. How bout we get something to eat and let them finish this, and then we can all have some coffee and chat a bit?”

“They… I saw…” Nick gasped like a fish on dry land. He covered his eyes with his hand. “On my couch!”
“We’ve done a lot of stuff on that couch too. Do couches have a virginity? Like couchinity, or something?”
“It’s not the same when we do stuff on it. They were-”

“Having sex on the couch like grown ups sometimes do. Considering all the stuff I’ve talked you into, that should be really mild for you.”

“I can’t watch football on that couch anymore!”
“That’s why you’re upset?”
“I don`t  care what they do, but not on my couch! They destroyed my sanctuary! My one place to cheer for the Cowboys, have a few beers-”

“Hey, guys?” Danny interrupted. “If I gotta stay in this position much longer I’ll get a cramp.”

Warrick didn’t comment, he stayed quiet under the other man, waiting for some kind of a decision.

“We’ll wait in the kitchen.” Nick finally decided. “But you’ll scrub that couch!”
“Don’t worry, we got a blanket here-”
“You’ll scrub the couch and burn the blanket!”
