Can't wait for a killing frost. Damn mice. One just took 1/2 slice of bagel a good 5 feet. Couldn't take it through the gap behind the cooker! More poison out, but it's a loosing battle as there are hoards of them trying to move in for the winter.

Bram joined me for my long day of work today. As the only nurse, in our area, qualified to remove PICC lines (a special type of Intravenous line), it is not uncommon for me to have to travel long distances to perform this task. A tradition has developed here over the past few years. Want to get rid of something? Put it at the end of your driveway. Sometimes there's a sign that says free, but it's understood. I've cleared out quite a few things this way, especially good for larger items that are difficult to transport to thrift shops for donation. Saves dump fees too. ( Read more... )

SIL called to tell me dear brother was having breathing problems and would I drive them to the hospital. When I arrived at his house, checked him out and called 911. As we live in a remote, rural area, there is a volunteer fire/rescue squad that is supposed to help until the paramedics arrive, closest town is 15 minutes plus and if that crew is on ( Read more... )
