What I've Been Doing
1) Playing Dragon Age: Origins. It is a brilliant RPG -- quite possibly the best CRPG ever made. From a mechanics standpoint, there isn't anything that would seem unfamiliar to someone who has played KOTOR or Baldur's Gate, it's just been refined and removed from AD&D underpinnings, and it all balances nicely and works extremely well ( Read more... ) -
Bragging About My Wife
Yesterday, the Unbalanced Wife and I spent the morning at the quarterly Board of Trustees meeting for her university. This was the meeting where they voted to implement Domestic Partners benefits for university employees -- by January 1, no less. So that was cool to see.

It's Bumbershoot Weekend and I'm Not There
I didn't go last year either, because I just couldn't afford it. Before that, I'd been to every Bumbershoot going back to 1994. It's always been one of the highlights of my year.

At This Very Moment
I can hear the bassline of the song the Unbalanced Wife is writing. She's played it about a gazillion times in a row and now it's burned into my brain. Of course, she *should* be grading, but it really makes me happy to hear the music coming back alive in her. This is the first time she's worked on something new since we started dating. -
