Title: Movie Night
Author: critic2000
Pairing: Olivia/Natalia
Rating: PG-13 to start, for violence (non-sexual) and language. I am not any kind of a medical expert so if there are some glaring errors, please forgive me.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the Guiding Light characters, they belong to CBS and Proctor and Gamble.
Summary: This is set in the spring of 2009. I’ve taking some liberties with the storyline, mainly Natalia never slept with Frank, hence no engagement etc. So our girls have been just continuing forward raising Emma and getting closer to each other though they are still technically just friends, but that will change… This is a hurt/comfort story so they are headed on a rough ride.
Author’s Note: This is my first fan fiction so please be gentle. This would not have been possible if not for the persistent nudging and awesome editing of my beta/great friend croftlara. Comments are welcome.

Chapter 55

The body under her was in distress. That’s all Natalia knew when she woke up in the dark groggy from sleep. “Olivia?” She whispered as she opened her eyes.

“No… no stop…” Olivia’s head thrashed from side to side.

Natalia sat up quickly, “Olivia it’s okay.” She leaned over her friend and put her hand on the shoulder she had been lying on. “It’s just a dream, wake up.” Oh God, not again.

Eyelids open green eyes flashed, Olivia sat up panting and looking around the room. “What’s going on?”

“It’s okay,” Natalia comforted rubbing her hands up and down Olivia’s arms, “you were having a bad dream.”

Olivia still looked stunned and afraid, shivering slightly she leaned forward against Natalia and let the younger woman wrap her in her arms. Woah, I was hoping my dreams were behind me.

“You’re okay Olivia. I’ve got you.” I’ll always be here for you. “Are you cold, you’re shivering?”

“Not cold, no.” I hate bothering you with this. Blinking, Olivia pulled back and forced herself to look into Natalia’s eyes, “I’m sorry I woke you.” Looking over at the clock she saw it was only three am. “It’s really late you should go back to sleep.”

“Not without you. What was your dream about?”

Sighing Olivia admitted, “I’m so tired of this…” and too tired to go into it now. Scrubbing her face with her hands she added, “Forget about it, it doesn’t matter. Let’s just go back to sleep.” Olivia started to turn on her side in an attempt to take matters into her own hands and gain back some control but she neglected to consider Natalia’s determination when it came to her.

Natalia frowned at the back facing her. “Hey,” resting her hand on Olivia’s trembling shoulder she pulled Olivia so she could see her face. Offering a sympathetic grin Natalia encouraged, “It does matter.”

Olivia’s eyes brightened with tears.

“Tell me about it, then we can both go back to sleep.” Come on Olivia; don’t close up on me now.

I hate this but I know you won’t let it go. “I’ll be honest… all this stuff about Jeffrey?”

Natalia squeezed Olivia’s shoulder encouraging her to continue.

“Well it stirred some things up. I was back there in my dream, back at the embassy, only it wasn’t Jeffrey on top of me… it was Danny and he had that…” Olivia sobbed, “that… gun.”

Shit I was afraid it would be because of what you told me. “I’m sorry honey that must have been awful.” Natalia stroked Olivia’s hair to calm her.

Olivia turned fully around and rested on her elbow.

Studying the distraught woman beside her Natalia was moved to ask, “Do you have dreams about Jeffrey very often?”

Unable to hide her yawn, Olivia leaned her head on Natalia’s shoulder struggling against the tiredness she could feel pulling at her again, “No, very rarely. I really don’t think about it… try not to anyway.”

Natalia, sensing that Olivia might be ready to lie down asked, “Are you okay, do you think you could go back to sleep?”

Finally in control of her shivering, her eyes already closed, Olivia smiled and nodded, “I’d like to try.” If you hold me again… maybe I can…

“Good.” Natalia lay down on her back and reached her arm out inviting Olivia to lie on the shoulder of her uninjured side.

Olivia hesitated blinking twice before she carefully got comfortable on Natalia. “Tell me if I hurt you.”

“You’re not hurting me.” Natalia turned her head and rested her lips on Olivia’s forehead. “Go back to sleep.” She finished her kiss on the skin under her lips to the subtle sound of a contented moan and continued listening for a sign that Olivia was asleep once more.

It took a few minutes but eventually Olivia’s deepened breathing indicated she was sleeping again. Natalia lay there a while longer to make sure her slumber was peaceful before she allowed her own eyes to close. I’m sorry bringing all of this up is disturbing you, you really need to rest and recharge, at least this one didn’t seem to be too bad and we got through it… we’ll get through this....

***

When Natalia woke for the second time that morning she sighed out loud, smiled and tightened her hold on Olivia. She was a little sore but not enough to want to move.  What a day yesterday, did that all really happen? I’m relieved you were able to tell me about Jeffrey… then there was kissing… wow, I can’t believe how good that made me feel and then… then there was everything else in between… I don’t really know what to do with all of that except just accept it. I know we’re going to need to talk about ‘us’ but I’m not going to put any more pressure on you right now Olivia. I just know I’m happy with this development.

Natalia kissed Olivia’s head again and thought about what today would bring. Emma. We get Emma back. Natalia couldn’t hold back the grin that spread across her face. Our little pony obsessed girl. What are we going to do with you? Natalia mentally shook her head. So much was going on so quickly it seemed. It could have been too much if she let it but for now she just held on to what was real, Olivia, Emma, Rafe… her family. Rafe… Maybe I’ll see if Olivia will drive me over to the prison to see you tomorrow. I need to see you.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt Olivia move.

“Mmmm,” Olivia moaned as she curled in closer to Natalia.

“Are you awake?” Natalia whispered.

“Nope, I’m still asleep.” Don’t want to move, please don’t move.

“Is that right?” Smarty pants.

“Yeah, I’m too comfortable to actually move.”

Natalia delicately traced the finally fading bruise, “How’s your head?” she asked as she kissed the article in question as though ‘kissing it better’.

Olivia was smiling at the tenderness of the touch, “Meh… how’s your shoulder?” and then turned her head, pulling Natalia’s nightshirt aside to place the softest of kisses on the exposed flesh above Natalia’s wound.

Closing her eyes Natalia held in the moan she felt building, “Ah… b… better.”

You like that do you? “Oh yeah?” Olivia kissed the area again enjoying the smoothness and scent of Natalia’s skin before contentedly snuggling her head down again and seemingly starting to doze.

Chest heaving Natalia managed, “Uh huh. Much better.” What you do to me with a kiss… Injury? What injury? It’s hard to feel any kind of pain when you love me like that.

Gentle snoring could be heard. “Olivia?”

A mumbled response was all Olivia could muster.

Olivia’s head bounded a little as Natalia’s giggles shook her. “You’re so not a morning person Olivia.”

Another mumbled responsewhich sounded like, “That’s right, so you shouldn’t disturb me until I’m ready to get up.” To make her point she tightened her hold around Natalia’s waist before realizing she may have actually needed to get up.   Olivia sat up in bed, hair on the left side of her head flattened to her face, eyes puffy from sleep, pajamas rumpled, “Are you okay? Do you need me to get off you?”

Shaking her head Natalia reassured, “No…no, no, I’m fine, I was just teasing. You can lay back down if you like.” I love holding you.

Olivia appeared to be considering it, “No… well… I mean I guess I… naw, I’m up, I’m up…” Shit.

Dimples flashed as Natalia watched Olivia make her decision to stay up.

“Alright stop laughing at me.”

“I’m not laughing.” Natalia fought the laugh that was bubbling up inside. You want to cuddle just as much as I do Ms. Spencer, you could admit it.

Amused, Olivia knew what would stop the giggles, she leaned over and captured Natalia’s lips in a gentle though less than chaste kiss. When she drew back, she winked, “Morning.”

Natalia swallowed, “Okay so that did happen yesterday.”

Brows knit, “What did you think happened?”

Suddenly uncomfortable, Natalia started playing with the bedding, “I just… um… I just didn’t think… I mean how could that be real?” How could I be so lucky?

“What do you mean?” Olivia asked as she caressed Natalia’s jaw up to her dimples.

“I guess I just dreamed about… “

“About me?” Olivia asked with one eyebrow raised.

Her cheeks turned pink and Natalia tried to turn her head away but Olivia’s fingers kept her in place, “Yeah, I… guess I have been thinking about you for some time and it’s hard to believe that maybe that dream is coming true.”

Touched and heartened by Natalia’s statement, Olivia leaned forward again and took Natalia’s lips in a kiss more fierce this time. “It’s real. I’m real and I feel the same way. I have for a while. I guess it was just this experience that encouraged it to come out now.”

Natalia pulled back her brows knit, “You don’t think it’s because of the invasion do you?”

“What? This?” Olivia pointed between Natalia and herself.

“Yeah, you know… people who share traumatic events together, well… I mean maybe that’s the connection we’re feeling?”

“Wait, Natalia.” Olivia shook her head and lifted her hand to stop her, “You just said you’ve been feeling this way for a while, so no I don’t think our feelings came from that.” Though I imagine that’s what everyone else will think but I don’t care.

Natalia leaned forward and Olivia enveloped her into a hug. “Good.”

“Josh hi, it’s Jeffrey. Are you up for a little remodeling?” Jeffrey asked Josh over the phone.

“Ahh, what did you have in mind?”

“The farmhouse, I got word from the cleaning crew I hired, they’ve cleaned everything as best they could but Olivia made me promise the living room would be pretty well gutted… new drywall… hardwood… the whole thing.”

Oh God, Olivia… “Well yeah I can certainly help you, when did you have in mind?”

“Umm, how about today? I’ve already got all of the materials just need the man power. Sorry for the last minute call, I got caught up in a case at work.”

“Today? Sure, I suppose I could.” Josh stood and moved toward his closet to pull out his work clothes

“Great, I’m going to call Matt, Shayne and Billy, I’ll wrangle up who I can and meet you there in an hour.”

“An hour? Ya know I think you’re learning from Reva, she’s got those rush calls down to an art form.” Yep that’s last minute.

Laughing Jeffrey responded, “You’re probably right. See you soon.”

***

Olivia looked up and disconnected her phone call as Natalia walked out of the bathroom. “Okay, Jane is going to bring Emma’s things by in a little while.”

“Great,” Natalia said, sitting down on the bed next to Olivia, taking her hand to play with her thumb. “So what would you like to do today while we wait for Emma?”

“How about after breakfast, we go for a little walk down by the lake? I don’t know about you but these four walls are getting a little claustrophobic.”

Natalia pouted in an attempt to look hurt, “Even with me here?”

Smiling Olivia responded, “You’re what’s been keeping me sane.”

“Good answer.” Natalia leaned in for a kiss. “Did you order breakfast? You need to eat and we have pills to take. God knows you need your coffee…”

Olivia smiled listening to Natalia worrying about her. Regardless of what had happened… what was happening… she was still Natalia and Olivia loved her for it. It had been a long time since someone took care of her… really took care of her and she liked it. “Of course, it’ll be here soon.” Olivia lifted their joined hands and kissed the back of Natalia’s. I think I like these ‘new opportunities’.

Despite enjoying the attention Natalia reluctantly suggested, “Well then why don’t you go shower and get dressed and maybe it’ll be here when you’re finished.”

“Ordering me around huh?” I could get used to that… wait… Olivia considered that. She already orders me around. In fact, thinking about it, she has done for some time and I always seem to act on it… huh…

A little smirk on her face, Natalia answered, “Yep.”

Natalia watched Olivia disappear into the bathroom before she got up to get dressed. So we’ve both been feeling this way for some time. I’m glad that it’s not just a result of the invasion. Still in pain, Natalia groaned when she put on her bra.  How are things going to change? Are we just going to be together now… like a couple? I guess we have time to sort it out.

After she was dressed the maid in her went about making the bed and straightening up the room, she was lost in thought when arms wrapped around her middle from behind.   Natalia jumped, “Oh you scared the pants off me.”

Wow, I seem to keep doing that, maybe I should make a mental note to remember these moves. “I’m sorry honey; you seemed miles away, what were you thinking about?”

Easy answer. “Will you drive me to the prison to see Rafe?”

“Whenever you like.” Olivia dopily nipped at Natalia’s neck with delicate kisses.

Natalia’s head fell to the side, granting Olivia more access, “How about tomorrow morning, after we drop Emma off at school?”

“We can do that.” She punctuated with another kiss below Natalia’s left earlobe.

A knock at the door startled the women out of the moment. Olivia grabbed her chest and mumbled, “Gonna give me a heart attack.”

Natalia studied Olivia’s face to make sure she wasn’t serious before she let out a giggle. Olivia couldn’t help but join in before she sighed, “Damn interruptions…”

There was another knock and Natalia started to walk toward the door. “We should get it, it’s probably breakfast.”

“Coffee!” Olivia exclaimed as she brushed by Natalia to get to the door first. She quickly opened the door and admitted the porter, “Coffee, thank God.” She reached for the carafe before the porter had even halted the cart. At his surprised look, Olivia apologized, “Sorry Steven… I ah… coffee... need coffee.” Steven smiled and let go of the cart and slipped out of the room as quickly as he could.

“Let’s eat.”

“Wow, he wasn’t kidding,” Josh said as he turned into the driveway of the farmhouse and saw the materials on the lawn.

“What do you mean?” Matt asked from the passenger seat.

“Jeffrey said he’s got all of the supplies.”

The lawn was littered with building materials, tools and a dumpster. Jeffrey was standing with his cell phone in the middle of it all.

Noticing the truck he waved at Josh and put his phone away.

“Josh… Matt, thank you for coming.” Jeffrey walked up to the men with his hand outstretched.

“Of course, anything for Olivia and Natalia right?” Josh said with a twinkle in his eye.

“Yeah, happy to help in any way I can.” Matt added.

“No bike today Matt?” Jeffrey asked a twinge of humour in his voice.

Josh slapped Matt on the back and answered for him, “Didn’t want him to tire himself out riding all the way up here so I picked him up. We need him for drywall.”

Both Josh and Jeffrey chuckled.

“Ha Ha, very funny, a guy tries to do a little for his environment and gets teased for it.”

“Just because it’s you man, just because it’s you.” Josh countered.

“Yeah whatever. Oh hey, there’s Billy’s car, go bug him for awhile.” Matt suggested when he saw Billy Lewis drive in.

The men turned toward the driveway.

“Men! Are we ready to work?” The large man bellowed as he got out of his car.

“Eh… yeah suppose.” Matt answered.

“Sure, we can do that.” Josh supplied.

“Absolutely!” Jeffrey emotionlessly offered.

“Oh yeah this is gonna be fun.” Billy said in his best Tulsa accent as he pulled his tool belt from his trunk. “Where’s Reva thought she’d be right in the thick o’ this?”

Jeffrey shook his head, “Actually, she ordered some furniture. They needed a new couch so I suggested maybe she pick one out and if Olivia and Natalia don’t like it well, at least it was something so it looks like a home and they could always change it later…. Well you know Reva, she decided she didn’t like the rest of the furniture either and thoughtfully volunteered to redecorate the room. She’ll be by a little later.”

Knowing Reva as well as they did, all three men just nodded and laughed.

“What’s this about my mom?” Shayne asked as he walked up behind the group.

“Oh Shayne didn’t see you drive up. I was just saying that your mom is out buying furniture to redo the entire living room.” Jeffrey explained knowing it was Reva’s way of showing she cared and of trying to help, it didn’t matter that Olivia and Natalia could very well throw it all away after they got home.

“Of course she is, I’m sure Olivia will love that.” Shayne grinned. “We ready to get started? I have a date with Dinah later.”

Josh walked over to his son and put his arm around him, “’Appreciate you coming to help son.”

“Happy to do it dad.   It’s really the least I could do.” I just want to do whatever I can.

“Okay if we’re ready to get started,” Jeffrey announced. “I think the plan here is to move out any furniture first then tear out the drywall and floor then put her back together. Don’t know if we’ll get it all finished today but we’ll give it a try. “

All four men stood poised to move but hesitant, the house had been cleaned, there would be no blood, no smell of death and horror but the knowledge of what happened remained.

Jeffrey broke formation first and the other four men followed. They walked over the threshold, none of them knowing what to expect of their own feelings. None of them knew Natalia very well but all thought she was a strong, sweet woman, who seemed to be a great influence on Olivia, while each of them knew Olivia in a different way. Whatever their dealings in the past had been with her the one thing they could not deny, they loved her enough to want to make this home right for her again. Emma needed her house back, to feel safe and comfortable. These thoughts ran through their minds as they felt emotion they weren’t prepared for. They knew what happened here, they knew the women it happened to and these five good men were determined to do whatever they could to set things right for them.

Each entered the house reverently, taking in a breath almost to see if they could still smell the blood. Jeffrey was relieved the house looked and smelled nothing like it had when he visited with Olivia. Thank God, they did a good job cleaning up.

Josh walked over to the hole in the drywall where Olivia’s head had connected; he touched it and looked over at Jeffrey who nodded quickly. Josh’s eyes closed. Dear God. Olivia, what did you face here?

“Let’s…ah… let’s get started.” Jeffrey said getting everyone’s attention back.

The men moved into action and began removing the furniture and decorations.

Jeffrey and Josh wordlessly each took an end of the now ‘clean’ couch and threw it into the dumpster.

Shayne helped his uncle move out the chair and the coffee table while Matt carefully wrapped Natalia’s Madonna statue and put it in a box to keep it safe.

The sparse room was empty in minutes so the men each took up their weapons of mass destruction: hammer, crowbar, screwdriver, saw… and re-entered the house to begin tearing out the interior.

The first panel of drywall to come out was the part damaged by Olivia’s head. At first Josh carefully pulled away the material but as he thought more about why it was damaged, he uncharacteristically began to lose his temper. The other men backed away while Josh tore the drywall out with his gloved hands. Olivia may have been his ex-wife but the passion between them would always remain, he expelled some of this passion as anger into the wall. When it was down he stood with his head bowed, gasping for air and trying to rein in his emotions. The reminder is gone Olivia, it doesn’t wash away that it happened but you never have to see it again.

The occasional burst of anger erupted as the five men destroyed the interior. They tried to look at this as just another construction job but it wasn’t and when they all stood on the stairs facing the wall that had previously worn Natalia’s blood they carefully removed the drywall without a word.
