Title: Movie Night
Author: critic2000
Pairing: Olivia/Natalia
Rating: PG-13 to start, for violence (non-sexual) and language. I am not any kind of a medical expert so if there are some glaring errors, please forgive me.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the Guiding Light characters, they belong to CBS and Proctor and Gamble.
Summary: This is set in the spring of 2009. I’ve taking some liberties with the storyline, mainly Natalia never slept with Frank, hence no engagement etc. So our girls have been just continuing forward raising Emma and getting closer to each other though they are still technically just friends, but that will change… This is a hurt/comfort story so they are headed on a rough ride.
Author’s Note: This is my first fan fiction so please be gentle. This would not have been possible if not for the persistent nudging and awesome editing of my beta/great friend croftlara. Comments are welcome.

Chapter 19
Olivia’s back was hurting, her neck was stiff and her arm had almost completely fallen asleep but she knew this was where she wanted to be. Natalia had been asleep for over two hours and so far it seemed to be a peaceful rest.
At least maybe I can do this right, sit here and hold her hand and if I’m lucky, keep her demons at bay.
Needing to stretch out her pained muscles and wake herself up a little Olivia stood, never letting go of Natalia’s hand. She looked out the window at the lights of Springfield. She could see her hotel from here and knew the lake was right outside, if she squinted she could almost see the lights reflecting on its black surface. She watched the headlights from cars as they drove by the hospital, an ambulance rushing its patient toward the emergency room…
The world keeps moving except Olivia; standing guard ready to fight the monsters of Natalia’s dreams should they dare come. Don’t they know…indicating the people in cars driving by… don’t they care? They just go about their business like nothing is wrong and yet Natalia is lying here, somehow alive. Don’t they know she could have died? Why don’t they care? Everyone just goes on like nothing has happened.
“Whoa, Spencer,” Shaking her head to pull herself out of her thoughts, “time for a reality check. Don’t lose your mind now.” Ah, maybe if my head would stop hurting, damn I need an aspirin or something it’s killing me.
Resigned to it, Olivia lowered herself back into the chair, leaned her head back and raised her free hand to rub her temples. How much of her headache was the knock on the head and how much of it was lack of sleep, Olivia didn’t know. It still hurt just as much regardless of the cause.
She closed her eyes for just a moment before she could stop it her own demons came. ‘Sitting on the bench on the porch outside waiting. But she didn’t know for what. She just kept watching down the driveway to the road, waiting. To her right she saw her family playing catch with a football on the lawn. Emma squealed as Rafe tickled her when she caught the ball, causing it to drop to the ground. Ava ran over and picked it up and threw it to Natalia who fumbled at first but caught it. Olivia watched them as they laughed and teased. She saw Natalia turn to her and wave her over but Olivia was rooted to the bench. She could see the wrinkle appear in Natalia’s forehead that indicated that she couldn’t understand why Olivia wasn’t coming to play. Olivia struggled and struggled, but she could not get up, she could not speak. Olivia could feel a pressure on her, almost holding her down. She still struggled to move from the bench, Natalia still waiting for her. The moment she’d taken her eyes from the driveway and the road, she’d missed the dark car turn and pull into the driveway. She heard too late the doors open and then two men exit the car. She could see that Natalia, Emma, Rafe and Ava didn’t notice the car or the men. Finding her voice, she screamed herself hoarse as she struggled and watched as the men approached her family. Danny and Brian, ‘Oh God’, Olivia recognized the men. They were bad men. In her mind she screamed, ‘RUN!’ Danny looked at Olivia and gave her a smirk before shaking his head. Her helpless family still couldn’t hear her. Olivia watched as the men continued to approach the unaware people, two guns appeared…’
“No!” Olivia’s eyes flew open and she tried to get her bearings. Her back was damp and she could feel wet hair sticking to her forehead, she was breathing hard but there was something else… the hand she was holding… Natalia. Standing, Olivia heard Natalia‘s moan before she saw tension in the woman’s body.
Shit.
Olivia leaned over to comfort her friend and pull her from the nightmare she was in.
“Natalia, it’s okay, you’re safe.” How could I let this happen?!
The dream was bad, Natalia was crying and her body was as taut as a piano wire ready to break and she had begun to whimper in her sleep.
Olivia stood up to better reach her friend. “Wake up!” Brushing her hand over Natalia’s cheek, “I’m here, you’re safe, they can’t hurt you.”
Olivia still reeling from her own nightmare couldn’t help the tears that started to fall as she helplessly watched her friend battle the demon alone.
“Honey please… I don’t know what to do, please wake up.” Olivia lifted Natalia’s hand to her lips. “You’re okay, shhhh… I’m right here with you. ”
The crying didn’t stop, Natalia’s chest rose and fell as though she were running a marathon. “No…Brian!”
Oh my God, she’s dreaming about shooting him. “Oh sweetie, it’s okay.” Olivia held Natalia’s hand in both of hers and closed her eyes tightly and pleaded, “God please, help me, what do I do? Help me make this stop for her.”
She lowered her lips to the woman’s forehead and suddenly remembered what she does when Emma has a nightmare.
Olivia moved her lips to Natalia’s ear and with tears streaming down her cheeks, started singing softly:
“You Are My Sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away”
It didn’t take long until Natalia’s body relaxed and the whimpering stopped, her breathing evened out and gradually deepened. The demons were gone, for now.
Olivia took a shuddering breath and stepped back never breaking the connection she had through Natalia’s hand, receiving as much comfort as it gave, she covered her mouth with her free hand and sobbed into it.

Olivia stood like a sentry over Natalia. Afraid that the demons might return, she vowed to be ready this time. How many hours had passed she didn’t know but she was sore, tired, sad and weary. The seriously happy nurse Suzie had come in once to check vitals and bring in more ice water and still Olivia didn’t move.
Against the wall above Natalia’s head a faint hint of orange reflected. Olivia turned her head toward the window. It had to be some time after 5:30 am as the sun was just rising. Boy my feet hurt but then I’ve been standing for what, six hours? I guess I found a rival for ‘torture chair’ but it was worth it if it gave Natalia some peace.
At that thought, the woman in the bed stirred. Olivia fought the smile that threatened to break free as she watched her friend blink herself awake. She loved watching Natalia sleep when she wasn’t bothered by nightmares but she couldn’t help admitting that she had been waiting for those bright brown eyes to lock onto hers for hours now.
When those eyes did find hers, the smile that Olivia had been holding back peeked out, “Morning.”
“Mmm…” Natalia cleared her sleep rough throat, “good morning to you too.”
Olivia was rewarded with two dimples but they quickly disappeared when Natalia realized how tired Olivia looked.
“Did you sleep?” Natalia hadn’t seen Olivia’s eyes rimmed with such dark circles in months.
“A little.” It was honest; she did sleep some before her own nightmare woke her. Then even before the question could be asked, Olivia answered, “I’m fine. Are you okay? Did you sleep alright?” Knowing full well that Natalia didn’t but maybe she didn’t remember.
Sensing some hesitation in the question Natalia cocked her head to the side and said, “Pretty good, why? What… did something happen?” Don’t lie to me for my own sake.
Olivia shook her head, “No.” Relief washed over her. She doesn’t remember, thank you God.
Oh Olivia. “Ok good. My throat is really dry, would you mind pouring me some water?”
“Of course.” For the first time in hours Olivia let go of Natalia’s hand and it was like a connection was severed. Olivia fought the need to grab hold again and when she looked up at Natalia, she could see that same feeling reflected back.
As Olivia poured the water she suddenly realized how desperately she needed to pee and she started to shift her feet back and forth as she raised the cup to Natalia’s lips.
After a sip Natalia could hold her laughter no longer and she let out a deep chuckle even though the action caused pain. “Ow that hurts…why don’t you just go to the bathroom? As much as I’m enjoying watching your version of the ‘pee pee dance’, just go before you wet your pants.”
Olivia looked horrified for a moment at being found out but couldn’t help the laugh that escaped despite herself.
“You don’t mind if I just…?” Olivia pointed toward the door.
“Good heaven’s no! Go. I’ll be here when you get back.”
With a quick thanks, Olivia put the cup down and bolted for the door. As far as she knew the nearest public bathroom was out in the waiting room area so she was going to have to move it to get there in time.
She’d left the room so quickly she missed the voice that followed her, “You are my sunshine too.”
