Taking a break from FMA (although perhaps that is a good thing because I need some distraction) to say today I completed my goal for 2010 which was to finish War & Peace. This is now the longest book I ever read at about 1,400 pages. Although despite taking time it wasn't really a difficult book at all

I just finished watching the most awesome adaption of Les Miserables from 1933/34 (I see both years cited) directed by Raymond Bernard. Why this version is not more well known is beyond me because it's so so good and probably the only version to really capture the spirit of the novel that I have seen (and I love the novel to pieces). I caught this 1942 film last night on TCM as tribute to the NY Film Critics Winners that did not end up winning the Oscar and I really enjoyed it.
Maybe it's because I like men in uniform, maybe it's because I like the Noel Coward/David Lean partnership, or maybe it's because I like WWII films but either way I really enjoyed this one.
My Fair Lady has for a very long time been one of my favorite musicals. Yes despite the fact that Julie Andrews did not get to play the part and Audrey Hepburn was dubbed I still love the movie. I just watched the two 1939 Sherlock Holmes movies starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. These tend to be the most well know and popular Holmes movies (at least in the US). And while the stories in the movies themselves are not bad (at least they didn't turn Sherlock Holmes into an action movie like the latest movie seems to be doing) the

Because of Brotherhood there continues to be more and more Fullmetal Alchemist merchandise released, very bad for my wallet. Although admittedly they are still releasing character merchandise they released with the first series so it's not that exciting yet. The only real difference is Winry with a green bandanna.
