Reading Dickens + More FMA Merchandise

Jun 16, 2009 09:54

Because of Brotherhood there continues to be more and more Fullmetal Alchemist merchandise released, very bad for my wallet. Although admittedly they are still releasing character merchandise they released with the first series so it's not that exciting yet. The only real difference is Winry with a green bandanna. However one new release has got me ( Read more... )

I go back and forth with the Dickens thing. When he is at top of his game he can write like the angels, but his work is so uneven on the whole, with a lot of exposition parts and half-arsed chapters (well, he had to turn in the chapters each week so that might have been the problem but Dostoevsky also did the newspaper novel thing and his books are never less than amazing).

A Tale of Two Cities is my favourite, no doubt (Sydney is one of my favourite fictional characters ever), although -I haven't read them all- I think Great Expectations was his finest hour. Our Mutual Friend is pretty awesome too, but was sadly left unfinished. David Copperfield I found quite boring, truth be told.

Also, never trust Tolstoy when it comes to literay advice: he badmouthed Shakespeare frequently. Tolstoy and I are obviously not good friends XD

Ha Ha well I disagree with him about Shakespeare but I have to say Anna Karenina is one of the best books I ever read. I mean sure one of the main characters, Lenin was obviously Tolstoy in disguise but I loved how every character was so realistic. Whether they had a bad or good end it was all so truthful, in fact probably one of the most truthful books I ever read.

I am enjoying David Copperfield so far but part of me thinks maybe I should have chose Great Expectations as my next read since I also hear great things about it and its quite a bit shorter. Not that I mind long books at all but it going to take time to get through it either way, On another note I also love Dostoevsky (well at least Crime & Punishment which is all I read of his so far.)

You really should take a picture of all the Roy's together because it would be awesome I think. XD

I like the Lust figure but she is sort of on the same level as Bradley for me so I won't bother. I saw the keychains and they are absolutely adorable but I think I probably won't get them either because I have so many FMA key chains from the 1st series, at least I won't order them Online. If I see them at a convention/store that's another story. I really want everything but I have to limit myself somehow because I can't afford it all. And it looks like they are going to continue to release things. But the Chibi Voice figures while expensive seem like they will be worth the cost. I will wait for the picture of them before making a final decision. :D

After a little searching I found the molds for the voice figures (still a little hard to tell what they will look like without color but you get an idea).
