Thursday night I tore into the hot tub to get the motor and pump out, poked at it for a bit and got it to turn a little, ordered a new one. Also ordered the ReadyNas Thursday shortly after posting about it. Finally sold the dresser that has been listed on CraigsList for a while. Yay, getting rid of stuff! Then I swung by Menards and got the flex conduit, ended up getting the 25' for $10 so I have a bit extra. Also picked up some other random things, screws, hammer, etc ( Read more... )

Drove over to Menards around lunchtime to pickup the flexible conduit. They had two boxes, both 100'. The areas for 10' and 25' were empty and the price tag was pulled. So, that means I stop at the True-Value stores on the way home and see if they have any, and in the event they don't, I need to make a run to the east Menards/HomeDepot sometime. ( Read more... )

Took Friday afternoon off and drove up to Siren, WI for the weekend to attend OmegaCon. Spent too much time watching people play with the Wii on the big screen. Spent some time in the hot tub and pool, and in general just hung out for most of the weekend. So, made some progress on the garage last night. Welded on the top to the flat file cart, and can now see the usefulness of a hand amptrol. Still needs some work for the access panel, but it is now a stable surface to lay stuff out on for the organization of the rest of the area. Got home from work and started wiring the GFCI/disconnect for the tub in the box on the outside of the garage. angrybunnyman stopped by with the cedar and and whipped up a pair of vampire chicken stakes for their dinner this weekend. I thought of another way to fix the tub. I was planning on using the foam rope and caulk to seal the gap and then I had a realization. Since I'm planning on replacing the cover for the tub anyway, instead of getting the cover the same size as the current one (shell) I can get one that fits to the outside of the enclosure with a longer skirt. The controller is back in the hot tub and the heater tube has been reconnected to the plumbing. Tonight I hope to work on getting it wired up for power and working on correcting a design flaw with the enclosure which lead to the heater and controller issues in the first place. Heater element showed up yesterday and I managed to get it wrangled into the flow-through tube. Now I need to replace some of the power wires and install it back into the tub enclosure and see if it works. Having wine with dinner meant that I didn't go back out to the garage to work on the table or to the hardware store for the above wires. ( Read more... )
