The controller is back in the hot tub and the heater tube has been reconnected to the plumbing. Tonight I hope to work on getting it wired up for power and working on correcting a design flaw with the enclosure which lead to the heater and controller issues in the first place. I also have to finish cleaning up and re-painting the controller door.
So, the controller door and housing has some rust on it. That means it has been wet, often. while putting the re-wired controller back into the enclosure last night I realized why it had been rusted. It also means that I might be re-building the enclosure sooner than I expected unless I can patch it until next spring. The tub is a fiberglass unit with spray insulation on the underside, the enclosure is built around it, this is where the flaw is. Instead of having the tub sit with the lip on top of the enclosure, it is next to it. This means that any water that splashes over the edge, or rain for that matter, flows between the tub and the enclosure thus dripping right on the controller, and along the inside of the enclosure insulation. This also means that a good deal of heat is also lost out of that same crack that goes all the way around the tub. So, I'm going to look into sealing the crack for the short term and re-designing the enclosure for the long term after we know we want to keep it and all that.
Another project that appeared last night is the exhaust on the Sentra. It sounds like there is a hole in the front half of the exhaust again. I haven't had a chance to get under there and find it yet, but it would be nice if it would just stop doing that. I should also stop looking at car lifts, as I just found a style I hadn't seen before, and it would work for my situation where the garage isn't tall enough and is portable. Yet another $2K+ I don't have. Car work is so much easier when you can just get under it. *sigh*
