I'm really disliking Nobuta's author, Gen Shiraiwa's, writing style. He's a Japanese Faulkner...and if his bloody book was written in English, that would be a compliment. Everything else about his book is managable; the story is interesting, I like the characters I've met thus far, the vocabulary is moderately easy, and there isn't that much Kanji ( Read more... )

Will became sick on Tuesday, the first day of school. He hasn't been back since, and is now behind in his work. I spent two hours this afternoon teaching him Japanese, and gosh, he's such a good pupil. He's like a sponge, eager to soak up any information that comes his way. If I take Japanese this summer, and take 3 classes about Japan (history, art, music, etc. etc I think there was even one about Japanese cooking), then by the end of next year, I'll have minored in Japanese. This makes me giddy.

That, and I would only have to take, I think, four or five more classes to major in it.
