Reading Grumbles.

I'm really disliking Nobuta's author, Gen Shiraiwa's, writing style. He's a Japanese Faulkner...and if his bloody book was written in English, that would be a compliment. Everything else about his book is managable; the story is interesting, I like the characters I've met thus far, the vocabulary is moderately easy, and there isn't that much Kanji. But--he goes and writes sentences that are six or more lines long. He writes paragraphs. This is made even more difficult when the clauses are in a fashion that don't make sense to native English speakers.

I've also decided that someone should produce a Katakana dictionary. It took me nearly fifteen minutes to figure out that "senchi" in Japanese means "centimeters."

And....I should harass people at Kinokuniya books on Monday about a job. I would never make money working there, but it would be the most wonderful place in Seattle to work.

EDIT (3 minutes later): OMG. They ARE hiring!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS It would be only about 30 hours a week, which is PERFECT. I e-mailed the man who's hiring, and asked if the job is still open. He posted on the Stranger a couple days ago which is slightly worrisome, but we'll see. If need be, could people help me with my resume tomorrow? I might run over to town later afternoon and just apply. But, OMG. SO. FREAKING. EXCITED. Do you know what they wear???? Totoro shirts. Come on! How can you NOT love a place that wears (tasteful) TOTORO shirts?!
