So, I'm due for a bit of an update.

Last week I did my online NRP written test and the following day I did the clinical part of the NRP recertification.  When the instructor started setting up the equipment and resus dolls I felt a bit shaky and teary but eventually pushed aside thoughts of my experience with Abby and focused on the task at hand.  ( Read more... )

I feel a bit scattered today, trying to get back into my Toronto routine.  The flight here was fine, no more than the usual bumps of turbulence.  It's been raining lightly off and on today and everything is certainly wet but no crazy weather.  Anything wild happened on Monday and things have settled down here (so no worries, Mom!).

The house where I'm staying has 9 (soon to be 10) people staying in it.  Two in a separate apartment upstairs, two in a separate basement apartment, and 5 (6) who reside here on the main floor (but two of them sleep downstairs as well).  It's surprisingly quiet and I feel as comfortable as one can feel in someone else's home.  Because there are ( Read more... )

I sent the girls to bed, read a chunk of my NRP book, and asked Jack to massage my back and shoulders.  Now the washing machine and dryer are working the night shift, everyone (but me) is in bed, and it's time to open my books again.

My hands are still wrinkly from washing dishes after lunch, my desk is clear and I have a small window of time to study this afternoon.

While some people rot on the computer playing FaceBook games and ..... who knows what else, I lose myself in Word and Excel as I organize to-do lists, party planning notes, and study schedules.  Even though it's not ( Read more... )

I'm pretty consistent; my mind wakes up every morning around 5:30 a.m.and my body relucantly follows soon after.  Sleeping in until 7 a.m. is a treat.

All week I've been carrying around my NRP textbook and index cards, and I'm usually able to read it for a few minutes but then I go into avoidance mode and they are easily put aside.  I am way too easily distracted and as a result, I don't feel prepared for tomorrow's course.  I have most of today to review, then I'll be going out of town for ( Read more... )
