The house where I'm staying has 9 (soon to be 10) people staying in it. Two in a separate apartment upstairs, two in a separate basement apartment, and 5 (6) who reside here on the main floor (but two of them sleep downstairs as well). It's surprisingly quiet and I feel as comfortable as one can feel in someone else's home. Because there are tenants, the laundry machines are coin-operated and kept in a building just outside the back door. I crunched a lot of acorn bits and pieces on the back patio with my shoes as I made trips back and forth to flip my laundry around today. I'm surprised at how many acorn trees there are, and squirrels galore!!!
I've been in my room most of the day, quietly reviewing NRP and FHS. There was a visitor at the house today (a family member) and on his way back from the bathroom he paused outside my half-shut door, reached in and shut off the light and ceiling fan switches in my room! I chuckled a little and kept on working with the afternoon sun coming in the window. I guess I must have been really quietly working for him to not even realize I was in the room! LOL
I had a nap this afternoon, read some Harry Potter on the shady front porch, then headed down the hill to catch the streetcar. I went to see Hope Springs and I loved it! It made me think of my dear husband and I got a bit teary at the end, but it was really sweet. Streetcar back home and then upthedamnhill. I get about half way up before I start running out of steam and by the time I reach the top my calf muscles are locked up tight so I kind of plod along the rest of the way. I'm going to time myself one of these days and see how much better I get at that hill by the end of November.
And look at me - little country mouse taking the streetcar and walking home alone at night! I don't even like walking alone at night in my own little town! LOL
Jack and the girls should be beeping in soon for our nightly skype call and until they do I'm going to make some tea and page through the rest of the NRP book. Tomorrow is my last day of doing nothing, then it's a trip on the Go train, and my first 3 days of classes. I'm really looking forward to meeting the rest of the women in the program, and I'm eager to get started!
