Weather is warming up at last; no doubt I'll soon be wishing for it to be cooler. I have a two-week break over Christmas/New Year, which will be spent relaxing, writing and ignoring housework.

It's been a busy month at work (one of my colleagues is on extended leave and another has been ill, so the work has piled up) and I've been so exhausted I haven't had the energy to do much apart from reading and watching some DVDs. The Armageddon convention in Wellingon last weekend was fun, but my experience was coloured by not liking the venue (the Westpac stadium) -- sure, there was a lot more room for stall-holders, but the panel stages, photograph "booths" and autograph areas were a shambles. Supanova Gold Coast was great, though as usual not as well-organised as other cons. I really enjoyed the Middle Earth panel (Dean O'Gorman, Graham McTavish and Stephen Hunter, with bonus surprise Sylvester McCoy). I spent the morning watching the Veronica Mars Movie Project on Kickstarter tick through the last six hours. Final total: $5.7M from 91.5K backers. Awesome. I'm so pleased I was able to be part of it. And yes, they did fix the shipping issues so I'll be getting my reward package sometime next ( Read more... )

I had a really good day today, and that was before I found out that the Veronica Mars Movie Kickstarter Project reached its $2,000,000 goal in under 24 hours.
