Supanova Gold Coast was great, though as usual not as well-organised as other cons. I really enjoyed the Middle Earth panel (Dean O'Gorman, Graham McTavish and Stephen Hunter, with bonus surprise Sylvester McCoy). We were extremely lucky to go up for autographs at a quiet time, so we were able to chat with them for a few minutes. I also enjoyed panels by Adam Baldwin and Eliza Dushku. Photos were a mixed bag - I don't know why I always look like a startled rabbit if I'm not smiling. It's a mystery. And Adam Baldwin is TALL - I honestly hadn't realised just how big he is (6'4" according to IMDB, and I'd actually believe 6'5", because I think he might be taller than Jason Momoa who is also listed as 6'4"). After the panels I ran amok in the Dymocks stall (some Hobbit stuff but mostly Star Wars reference books which I had been meaning to update for some time). I judged it well - my suitcase was 22.8kg on the return trip (limit is 23kg).
WoW: I got my mage to 90 yesterday (flying again, woot!), my shaman to 80 and my rogue to 60, so it was a very productive weekend. I'm still not sure whether to start doing heroics or just ignore tier gear again -- my guild doesn't raid much and I'm not that keen on it so I think I'll stick to achievement runs for the time being.
Armageddon Wellington:
kapuahi sent me this link to news about the con next month --
http://news.mymiddleearth.com/2013/04/26/hobbit-cast-to-appear-at-armageddon-2013/ -- I had already been considering it because of Joe Flanagan and Mitch Pileggi from SGA, but 10 dwarves and a wizard made it a no-brainer. Now all I need is a large poster suitable for signing ... not as easy as it sounds. Oh, and I need to talk nicely to the boss and change my leave dates. *fingers crossed*
