December update

Weather is warming up at last; no doubt I'll soon be wishing for it to be cooler. I have a two-week break over Christmas/New Year, which will be spent relaxing, writing and ignoring housework.

Conventions: I still haven't posted my photos from Supanova Brisbane last month. I didn't get many good ones of Joe (the lighting angle was really bad) but I got heaps of Dom so I really ought to make the effort. Nothing planned for the next six months, but August/September next year is going to be packed with fannish activities. Let's hope the Australian dollar doesn't fall too far before then. I'm pre-paying what I can now but some things will have to wait.

Writing: Wow. I haven't written this much or this fast in years. Seriously, I thought my muse was permanently crippled but apparently all it needed was an angel, a couple of demon hunters and a heavy rock soundtrack. I've done 47K in the SPN/sentinel series, plus I've almost finished the SGA fixit fic (only one more small scene and I'm done). PANTOFF(EE) is still pissing me off; I may abandon the scene I'm having difficulty with (Danny meets the governor) and just refer to it later.

Television: I'm loving "Almost Human" so far; I just hope it continues as strongly as it started. I'm up to S8 of SPN on BRD so I should catch up with the show by the end of the mid-season hiatus. I'm not sure if we're getting any more H50 before Christmas -- IMDB seems to be very confused -- but I hope so. S4 has been a bit uneven so far but on the whole I like it. Obviously I'm looking forward to the new season of Sherlock in January, too, and if ABC here has any sense at all they'll screen it within 24 hrs of the UK.

Hobbit: Initial reviews are positive, but I won't get to see it until after Christmas (because of Australia's apparent inability to screen any big film prior to Boxing Day). I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Legolas again, but I'm not at all keen on seeing the miniature elf. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything -- and there are plenty of dwarves plus Bard to keep me happy.

WoW: Nothing recently (too busy writing) but I'll try and get my priest to 90 and my wee gnome rogue to 80 over the break. I still like Northrend the best (in fact, I might even turn off her levelling just so I can play there longer). I saw the BlizzCon announcement about the new expansion, of course -- I would love to see more of Draenor but I'm not at all sure how they are going to manage it (time travel, maybe?). Given that they are including ten levels in the expansion I suspect that it will be the last, which is a little sad, but the fanbase is shrinking and it really doesn't make sense to commit all that effort in perpetuity. At least we get revised character models at last, which I'm really happy about - my poor human mage looks very clunky in comparison with the later races.
